DRB MEDIA COMMUNICATIONS DIGITAL NEWS(021021)-ARREST MADE IN CONNECTION TO SHOOTING IN SOUTHWEST ODESSA

Odessa, Texas/February 10, 2021-On Tuesday, February 9, 2021 at approximately 10:09PM, Odessa Police responded to 2300 West 10th Street in reference to shots being fired. Officers later responded to Medical Center Hospital in reference to a gunshot victim, identified as an 18-year-old male.

Investigation revealed that after a disturbance occurred at Floyd Gwin Park, Ronnie Ortiz jr., shot the 18-year-old male in the back and also shot at an 18-year-old female. The 18-year-old male was transported to MCH with serious bodily injury and the 18-year-old female sustained no injuries.

Ortiz was located by DPS and later admitted to shooting the 18-year-old male. Ronnie Ortiz jr., 27 years of age was charged and arrested two counts of Aggravated Assault with adeadly weapon “2nd Degree Felony” and transported to the Ector County Law Enforcement Center.

February 8, 2021-On January 1, 2021 at approximately 5:30PM, Odessa Police responded to Wal-Mart East located at 4210 North JBS Parkway in reference to a theft. Investigation revealed that an unknown male subject stole approximately $155 worth of property and exited the store through the Automotive Care Center. The suspect is possibly occupying a silver Ford Taurus. Anyone who recognizes the suspect shown in the surveillance photo contact Detective J. On November 15TH  2020, an unknown male subject stole an electric guitar from the EZ Pawn located at 917 North Grandview. The suspect fled the scene in a gray truck (unknown make or model). DRB MEDIA COMMUNICATIONS DIGITAL NEWS(020421)-OPD INVESTIGATING MURDER IN NORTH ODESSA

Odessa, Texas/February 4, 2021-On Thursday, February 4th at approximately 1:35 am, Odessa Police responded to the 9000 block of Ratliff Ridge Avenue in reference to shots being fired. Officers later located a deceased subject in the 1000 block of East 90th Street. The subject was later identified as Mario Castillo, 38 years of age.

Investigation revealed that after a disturbance occurred, Clinton Tyron Saunders, 36-years-of-age shot Castillo. Based on the facts and circumstances presented during the investigation, Saunders was charged and arrested with murder “1st Degree Felony and was transported to the ECTOR COUNTY LAW ENFORCEMENT CENTER.

Next of kin have been notified and the investigation continues.
