Odessa, Texas/February 10, 2021-On Tuesday, February 9, 2021 at approximately 10:09PM, Odessa Police responded to 2300 West 10th Street in reference to shots being fired. Officers later responded to Medical Center Hospital in reference to a gunshot victim, identified as an 18-year-old male.

Investigation revealed that after a disturbance occurred at Floyd Gwin Park, Ronnie Ortiz jr., shot the 18-year-old male in the back and also shot at an 18-year-old female. The 18-year-old male was transported to MCH with serious bodily injury and the 18-year-old female sustained no injuries.

Ortiz was located by DPS and later admitted to shooting the 18-year-old male. Ronnie Ortiz jr., 27 years of age was charged and arrested two counts of Aggravated Assault with adeadly weapon “2^nd Degree Felony” and transported to the Ector County Law Enforcement Center.

February 8, 2021-On January 1, 2021 at approximately 5:30PM, Odessa Police responded to Wal-Mart East located at 4210 North JBS Parkway in reference to a theft. Investigation revealed that an unknown male subject stole approximately $155 worth of property and exited the store through the Automotive Care Center. The suspect is possibly occupying a silver Ford Taurus. Anyone who recognizes the suspect shown in the surveillance photo contact Detective J. On November 15^TH  2020, an unknown male subject stole an electric guitar from the EZ Pawn located at 917 North Grandview. The suspect fled the scene in a gray truck (unknown make or model). HOWEVER, IN NOVEMBER OF 2020 THE HISPANIC CHAMBER WAS GIVEN $50 THOUSAND DOLLARS BY THE ODC FOR FINANCIAL LITERACY AND OTHER BUSINESS PROGRAMS TO HELP EDUCATE SMALL HISPANIC BUSINESSES.

ODESSA, TEXAS/FEBRUARY 7, 2021-THE DOOR OF HOPE THRIFT STORE HELD THEIR GRAND OPENING OF THE OUTLET CENTER ON EAST 8^TH STREET IN ODESSA. THE PURPOSE OF THE OUTLET IS TO SELL ITEMS TO THE PUBLIC AT A MUCH-REDUCED PRICE BY SELLING THOSE ITEMS BY THE POUND.

THERE IS AN OVERABUNDANCE OF ITEMS THAT THE DOOR OF HOPE THRIFT STORE HAS FROM PUBLIC DONATIONS LIKE: SHOES, CLOTHING, FURNITURE, BOOKS, TV’S AND EXCERSISING EQUIPMENT. THE RELIGIOUS ORGANIZATION CAME UP WITH A CREATIVE WAY TO SELL THE OVERABUNDANCE OF WAREHOUSED ITEMS.

Odessa, Texas/February 4, 2021-On Thursday, February 4^th at approximately 1:35 am, Odessa Police responded to the 9000 block of Ratliff Ridge Avenue in reference to shots being fired. Officers later located a deceased subject in the 1000 block of East 90th Street. The subject was later identified as Mario Castillo, 38 years of age.

Next of kin have been notified and the investigation continues.
