Meals on Wheels of Odessa Partners with H-E-B to Help Spread Holiday Cheer!

Odessa, Texas/December 4, 2024-Meals on Wheels of Odessa along with HEB are celebrating the FEAST OF SHARING by including homebound clients that Meals on Wheels serve. H-E-B staff helped deliver meals to over 800 clients throughout Odessa and Ector County.

H-E-B is celebrating its 22nd Annual Feast of Sharing by partnering with Meals on Wheels of Odessa to deliver a holiday meal to those that cannot attend the Feast of Sharing Christmas event on Friday, December 6th.

Ector County Commissioners Vote to Apply for a Texas Community Block Grant on Behalf of ECUD

Odessa, Texas/December 3, 2024-The Ector County Commissioners Court held a special meeting on Tuesday, December 3RD to take action on a resolution to allow the commissioners court to submit an application for a Texas Community Block Grant for the sum of $750, 000 on behalf of ECUD.

Residents of West Odessa in West Ector County have had issues with past administrations of the Ector County Utility District in providing water service to them. New board members are excited that the Commissioners Court voted to apply for the block grant.

Representatives of the newly formed West Texas Water Warriors are advocating for the residents of West Odessa and are partnering with ECUD to provide water to those West Ector County residents who do not have water service.

New City of Odessa Council Leaderships Holds November 26th Council Meeting

On Tuesday, November 26th the new leadership of the Odessa City Council held its regularly scheduled meeting. Several items were on the agenda that included a street reconstruction, the demolition and rebuild of the Odessa Police Departments parking garage and the appointment of Councilman At-Large Craig Stoker as Mayor Pro Tem. 

The council convened to an Executive Session to consider the termination of several contracts that are detrimental to the City of Odessa, especially the TGAA contract and others.

Contracts for the City Attorney and the City Secretary were re-negotiated to 1-year contracts. The Odessa City Council voted to void the $700,000 and components of the contract payout to former city manager John Beckmeyer.

The Council voted to hire retired and former Odessa City Manager Richard Morton as Interim City Manager to help the new council navigate through issues that the previous administration may have created.

11th Annual Thanksgiving Dinner Hosted by the American Legion Post 430

Odessa, Texas/November 28, 2024-Residents of the City of Odessa celebrated the 11th Annual Thanksgiving Community Dinner at the American Legion located on East 8th Street. Families gathered at the venue to enjoy turkey, ham and all the fixins’. Craig Stoker, Odessa City Councilman AT-LARGE, Eddie Mitchell, Odessa City Councilman, District 1 and Odessa Mayor Cal Hendrick helped serve this free event.

Volunteers and students from the ROTC Program at Permian High School helped prepare, serve and bus tables for the packed event estimated at a little over 800 people.

Domingo Garcia 53rd Annual Super Show at the Ector County Coliseum

Odessa, Texas/November 26, 2024-A ribbon cutting ceremony presented by the Odessa Hispanic Chamber of Commerce was held at the Ector County Coliseum in celebration of the 53rd Annual Super Show sponsored by Domingo Garcia, Attorney at Law. Newly elected City of Odessa officials, Eddie Mitchell, District 1 and Craig Stoker, City of Odessa At-Large, Odessa Police Chief, Michael Gereke along with LULAC and Hispanic Heritage of Odessa participated in celebration.

The Domingo Garcia 53rd Annual Super Show featured special guest, Actor, Producer and Filmmaker Jesse Borrego the star of the movie BLOOD IN BLOOD OUT, the television series FAME as well as other movies and productions.
