DRB MEDIA COMMUNICATIONS DIGITAL NEWS(121120)-ECSO INVESTIGATING OFFICER INVOLVED SHOOTING

ODESSA, TEXAS/DECEMBER 11, 2020-THE ECTOR COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE IS INVESTIGATING AN OFFICER INVOLVED SHOOTING THAT OCCURRED THURSDAY EVENING, DECEMBER 10TH.

ACCORDING TO ECTOR COUNTY SHERIFF MIKE GRIFFIS IT BEGAN AT THE N-N OUT CONVENIENCE STORE LOCATED AT 3226 WEST 10TH, WHEN DEPUTIES TRIED TO STOP TWO PEOPLE. ONE THE PERSONS WAS WANTED FOR A STATE PAROLE VIOLATION WARRANT.

IT WAS DISCLOSED THAT THE DEPUTIES PURSUED THE SUSPECTS THROUGHOUT SOUTHWEST ODESSA FOR A PERIOD OF TIME BEFORE THEY CAME TO A STOP IN THE 1300 BLOCK OF WILSON. THE SUSPECTS EJECTED FROM THEIR VEHICLE AND A FOOT PURSUIT ENSUED. ONE OF THE SUSPECTS PULLED OUT A GUN AND FIRED AT THE PURSUING DEPUTIES, HITTING ONE OF THE OFFICERS. DEPUTIES THEN RETURNED FIRE AND KILLED THE SUSPECT IN THE AREA OF THE 1300 BLOCK OF WILSON STREET IN SOUTHWEST ODESSA.

THE DEPUTY THAT SUFFERED THE GUNSHOT

WOUND, WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL HOSPITAL AND IS EXPECTED TO MAKE A FULL RECOVERY. THE ECTOR COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPUTY HAS NOT BEEN IDENTIFIED.

ACCORDING TO SHERIFF MIKE GRIFFIS THE OTHER SUSPECT WHO RAN FROM DEPUTIES IS STILL AT LARGE.
