DRB MEDIA COMMUNICATIONS DIGITAL NEWS(022221B)-OPD/FATAL CRASH AT THE 900 BLOCK OF EAST 2ND STREET

Odessa, Texas/February 22, 2021-An Odessa man is dead following a major crash that occurred this afternoon in Central Odessa. On February 22, 2021 at approximately 3:34 PM, Odessa Police and Odessa Fire Rescue responded to the 900 block of East 2nd Street in reference to a major crash.
Investigation revealed that a brown Chevrolet Silverado, being operated by Gilbert Hilario, 62 years of age, of Big Spring, was stopped facing westbound in the left turn lane of the 900 block of East 2nd Street.
A silver Dodge Caravan, being operated by Timothy York, 78 years of age, of Odessa, was traveling eastbound in the 900 block of East 2nd Street and entered the turn lane before striking the Silverado head-on.
York was transported to a local hospital and later pronounced deceased by medical personnel. Hilario was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Next of kin have been notified and the cause of the crash is still under investigation.

ECTOR COUNTY/ODESSA, TEXAS/FEBRUARY 22, 2021-A ONE VEHICLE CRASH OCCURRED ON STATE HIGHWAY 302, 16 MILES WEST OF ODESSA IN ECTOR COUNTY ON FEBRUARY 21, 2021 AT ABOUT 3:20PM.

A 2004, CHEVROLET 2500 PICK-UP OPERATED BY ENRIQUE R. SILVA, 64 YEARS OF AGE OF WASKOM, TEXAS WAS TRAVELING EAST ON STATE HIGHWAY 302, AND LEFT THE ROAD WAY, THEN LOST CONTROL AND ROLLED THE VEHICLE.

SILVA WAS PRONOUNCED DECEASED BY THE MEDICAL EXAMINER ON SCENE. WEATHER CONDITION WAS CLEAR AND THE ROAD CONDITIONS DRY. IT IS UNKNOW IF ENRIQUE SILVA WAS WEARING HIS SEATBELT.

Odessa, Texas/February 22, 2021-On January 28, 2021 at approximately 6:30 pm, a theft occurred at the Boot Barn located at 5125 East 42nd Street. Investigation revealed that an unknown male subject took over $1,000 worth of property and fled the scene through the emergency exit door. DRB MEDIA COMMUNICATIONS DIGITAL NEWS(022121)-MIDLAND PD INVESTIGATES SHOOTING AT CLUB 25

MIDLAND, TEXAS/FEBRUARY 21, 2021-On Sunday, February 21, 2021, at approximately 3:00 a.m., Midland Police Department Officers were dispatched to the 200 block of S. Lee Street in reference to shots fired and multiple gunshot victims.

Upon arrival, the investigation revealed that a physical altercation between unknown individuals began inside Club 25 and continued in the parking lot. As the physical altercation escalated, involving more individuals, multiple shots were fired.

A 16-year-old female was shot in the leg and was transported to the Midland Memorial Hospital ER by Midland Fire Department EMS. Two adult males who had also been shot arrived by personal vehicle at the Midland Memorial Hospital ER shortly after, for medical treatment. MPD Crimes Against Persons Detectives and the MPD Crime Scene Unit were notified and responded to the scene and to the Midland Memorial Hospital ER.

All three victims sustained non-life-threatening injuries. The actors involved are unknown and the investigation is ongoing.

Odessa, Texas/February 20, 2021-On Thursday, February 18, 2021 at approximately 10:19 PM, Officers of the Odessa Police Department responded to a call for service involving a stolen vehicle. The owner of the stolen vehicle reported that he had seen his vehicle in the 300 block of Ellis. The owner reported that there was a sole occupant in the vehicle.

 Officers responded to the area at 10:25 PM and found the stolen vehicle parked in the yard of 313 Ellis. Immediately upon arrival, the occupant of the vehicle confronted officers regarding their presence on the scene. At approximately 10:31 PM the subject in the vehicle not only confronted officers verbally, but also presented them with a physical threat to the officers’ safety. During the incident, the subject pointed an object at the officers and they immediately perceived that object as a firearm. In response to that threat, two Odessa Police Officers and Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper fired at the subject, striking him once. After a short standoff, Odessa Fire and Rescue transported the subject to Medical Center Hospital, where he is listed in stable condition.

Christopher Ocon, 39 years of age (DOB 08/25/1981) is being charged with Theft, a Felony of the Third Degree. The investigation continues and more charges may result. The Texas Rangers are leading the investigation and the officers involved are currently on Administrative Leave.
