Odessa, Texas/February 20, 2021-On Thursday, February 18, 2021 at approximately 10:19 PM, Officers of the Odessa Police Department responded to a call for service involving a stolen vehicle. The owner of the stolen vehicle reported that he had seen his vehicle in the 300 block of Ellis. The owner reported that there was a sole occupant in the vehicle.

 Officers responded to the area at 10:25 PM and found the stolen vehicle parked in the yard of 313 Ellis. Immediately upon arrival, the occupant of the vehicle confronted officers regarding their presence on the scene. At approximately 10:31 PM the subject in the vehicle not only confronted officers verbally, but also presented them with a physical threat to the officers’ safety. During the incident, the subject pointed an object at the officers and they immediately perceived that object as a firearm. In response to that threat, two Odessa Police Officers and Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper fired at the subject, striking him once. After a short standoff, Odessa Fire and Rescue transported the subject to Medical Center Hospital, where he is listed in stable condition.

Christopher Ocon, 39 years of age (DOB 08/25/1981) is being charged with Theft, a Felony of the Third Degree. The investigation continues and more charges may result. The Texas Rangers are leading the investigation and the officers involved are currently on Administrative Leave.
