MIDLAND, TEXAS/MAY 23, 2021-ON FRIDAY, MAY 21ST, THE MIDLAND INTERNATIONAL AIR AND SPACE PORT HELD A DISASTER DRILL TRAINING. MIDLAND POLICE AND THE MIDLAND FIRE DEPARTMENT ALONG WITH ODESSA FIRE RESCUE PARTICIPATED IN TRAINING SESSION. DUE TO COVID-19 THE AIRCRAFT NORMALY USED WAS SUBSTITUED FOR A SCHOOL BUS. AIR INFLATED PLASTIC MANIQUINS WERE USED AS VICTIMS, AND MIDLAND FIRE CADETS WERE USED AS WALKING WOUNDED.

THE DISASTER DRILL TRAINING ALLOWS FIRE, EMS, HAZMAT, LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES TO WORK TOGETHER ALONG SIDE TEXAS DPS AND THE FBI.

THE FAA PROVIDES A CHECK LIST TO AIRPORT OPERATIONS AND TO AIRPORT FIRE-RESCUE PERONNEL OF THE THINGS THAT NEED TO BE ACHIEVED DURING THE TRAINING EXERCISE.

WHEN THE DISASTER DRILL TRAINING IS COMPLETED, A CRITICLE INCIDENT STRESS DEBRIEFING OCCURS TO EVALUATE ANY MENTAL STRESSES A FIRST RESPONDERS MAY EXPERIENCE DURING THE EXERCISE.
