MIDLAND, TEXAS/MAY 31, 2021-THE MIDLAND COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE HELD A GRADUATION CEREMONY FOR THE RE-ACTIVATED MOUNTED PATROL. THIS DIVISION OF THE SHERIFF’S OFFICE ASSISTS OFFICERS IN A VARIOUS OF SITUATIONS.

THE MOUNTED PATROL IS A VOLUNTEER PROGRAM MADE UP OF OFFICERS FROM LUBBOCK, MIDLAND PD, ECTOR COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE, TARRANT COUNTY AND FROM THE MIDLAND COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE. PRIOR TO GRADUATION, RIDERS MUST ATTENDED THE 40 HOUR ACREDITED COURSE THAT CONSISTS OF RIDING, AND ON THE GROUND TRAINING, WORKING WITH THE HORSE ON MOVEMENTS AND OPERATIONS.

PRIOR TO GRADUATION, RIDERS MUST PASS A SPECIFIC CIRICULUM SET BY THE TEXAS BASED COMPANY “MOUNTED PATROL INTERNATIONAL, LLC”. THIS COMPANY TRAINS HORSES FOR SALE TO LAW ENFOCEMENT AGENCIES WITH MOUNTED PATROL UNITS IN TEXAS AND ACROSS THE U.S. INSTRUCTION IS DESIGNED TO MEET THE NEEDS A MOUNTED PATROL UNIT, THROUGH BASIC CLASSES AND INSTRUCTOR CLASSES.
