Odessa, Texas/July 7, 2021-On July 6, 2021 at approximately 11:40 PM, Odessa Police responded to Popeyes located at 4350 Tanglewood Lane in reference to a robbery. While officers were responding, Dispatch advised that one of the employees had been stabbed.
Upon arrival, officers observed the suspect, later identified as Ashton Ward, being held down. Investigation revealed that Ward walked into the business and demanded all of the money from the safe while threatening the employees with a knife.
While attempting to detain Ward, a 29-year-old male and 27-year-old female sustained non-life threatening injuries from the knife. The 29-year-old male was transported to a local hospital with serious bodily injury.
Ashton Tyzain Ward, 17 years of age, has been charged with 2 counts of Aggravated Robbery “1st Degree Felony”.
Based on the facts and circumstances presented during the investigation, Ward was charged and arrested accordingly and transported to the ECLEC.
