ODESSA, TEXAS/JANUARY 2, 2021-On January 2, 2021 at approximately 6:17pm, Odessa Police responded to CVS located at 100 East University in reference to a male subject that left behind a suspicious object inside the store. Precautionary measures were taken by evacuating all persons inside the business. A member of the OPD Bomb Squad Unit responded and the suspicious object was found to be a flip-top lighter with wires placed inside. This device was cleared and found to not be an explosive device. All person’s involved were evacuated in a safe manner. There was never an immediate threat to the area.
The Odessa Police Department takes all claims of suspicious items serious, and should be reported when observed.
