DRB MEDIA COMMUNICATIONS DIGITAL NEWS(091021)-DRIVER FACES CHARGES

Odessa, Texas/September 10, 2021-The driver of the deadly crash over the Labor Day Weekend now faces charges. Leonel Torres, 22-years-of-age of Odessa, is in the Ector County Detention Center on two counts of intoxicated manslaughter, felony two.

On September 5, 2021, at approximately 2:47am, Odessa Police and Odessa Fire Rescue were dispatched to a single-car crash in the 4000 block of E. 52nd.

The investigation revealed that a Black 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe, being operated by Leonel Torres, was traveling West on 52nd at a high rate of speed before leaving the roadway and striking a fence and a tree.

Torres and a rear passenger identified as 19-year-old Alexis Luna were ejected and transported to Medical Center Hospital with life-threatening injuries. Luna later died. The front passenger, identified as 19-year-old Bryan Contreras, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The investigation continues.
