The Salvation Army in Odessa Officially Reopens Mabee Red Shield Lodge

Odessa, Texas/June 14, 2024-The Salvation Army in Odessa held a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the official reopening of the Shelter. The Salvation Army Shelter has been open and operating since December 2023.

In years past the Salvation Army required those seeking shelter during dangerous summer and winter weather to provide identification. Now, the Salvation Army welcomes anyone needing help without an ID.

The Salvation Army shelter in Odessa has 54 beds and can provide cots for overflow, and partners with other nonprofit agencies to provide shelter for families.

The City of Odessa has made a commitment to help the Salvation Army with the growing homeless population by providing funding through Community Development Block Grants.

The reopening of the Salvation Army shelter in Odessa also kicked off programs to help the homeless towards self-sufficiency.
