Odessa Chamber Welcomes Back 46 Years of Leadership Odessa Alumni

Odessa, Texas/August 28, 2024-The Odessa Chamber of Commerce celebrated the return of LEADERSHIP ODESSA ALUMNI. The Alumni program welcomed all former graduates at a special reception held at the chamber office. The Odessa Chamber of Commerce was one of the first chambers to establish the Leadership program in the late 70’s.

Voter Registration Event-Meet & Greet Mayra Flores and Betty Cardenas

Odessa, Texas/August 26, 2024-La Margarita Mexican Food Restaurant recently hosted a voter registration drive. Representatives from the Ector County Elections Office welcomed new voters to the event. Mayra Flores who represented Texas’ 34th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives and Betty Cardenas, who is the Chair for Latina’s For Trump/Vance were on hand to visit with new voters.

LULAC & Hispanic Heritage of Odessa-“Breakfast With A Champion” Honoring Police Chief Michael Gerke

Odessa, Texas/August 25, 2024-Hispanic Heritage of Odessa, LULAC and members of the Black Cultural Council of Odessa along with guests and Odessa City Council members celebrated “Breakfast With A Champion” honoring Police Chief Michael Gerke.

Odessa Police Chief Michael Gerke presented a discussion of the threat of Fentanyl in Odessa and in Ector County and the laws that have been created by the Texas State Legislature to punish those that distribute and cause the death of someone knowingly or unknowingly ingesting Fentanyl.

Other topics included the increasing problems with traffic and motorists not following or obeying traffic laws.

Craig Stoker, Candidate for Odessa City Council At Large Meets with Southside Odessa Community Leaders

Odessa, Texas/August 25, 2024-Representatives with the Black Cultural Council of Odessa, LULAC and Hispanic Heritage of Odessa along with residents of District 1 and District 5 met with Craig Stoke, a candidate for Odessa City Council At-Large. The purpose of the meeting was to hear concerns impacting the residents of the southside of Odessa.

Community leaders voiced being neglected and the lack of interest by the current council only focused in developing Northeast Odessa into Midland County. Southside residents want high end economic development in the southside of Odessa.

The Black Cultural Council of Odessa and southside Odessa residents were encouraged by Craig Stoker’s presentation and his plans if elected to the Odessa City Council At-Large seat.
