Odessa Police Department’s PAL Program Going On NOW!

Odessa, Texas/June 6, 2025-The Odessa Police Department held the Police Athletic League also known as PAL a summer program for kids.

Boys and girls who registered for the PAL program engaged in spirited games of soccer and kickball at Floyd Gwin Park. Following the athletic activities, participants were treated to a delightful lunch of hotdogs and hamburgers. The afternoon session continued with a variety of recreational activities, fostering camaraderie and enjoyment among the youth. The event exemplified a commitment to promoting physical activity and community engagement among participants.

Odessa Police Investigating Fatal Motorcycle Crash on East 42nd Street and Englewood Ln.

Odessa, Texas/May 16, 2025-On Friday, May 16th at approximately 10:47am, Odessa Police and Odessa Fire Rescue were dispatched to a major crash at 42nd St and Englewood Ln. 

The Investigation revealed that a silver 2018 Jeep Latitude was stopped facing West in the 3800 block of E. 42nd Street. A white 2025 Kawasaki motorcycle was eastbound in the right turn lane of the 3800 block of E. 42nd.
The driver of the Jeep turned south onto Englewood Ln. The motorcyclist, later identified as 19-year-old Jordan Richard of Odessa, continued East in the right turn lane at a high rate of speed. This series of events caused the motorcycle to strike the front right of the Jeep.
Richard was pronounced deceased on scene and next of kin have been notified. The investigation continues.

Odessa Police Investigating Suspicious Death

Odessa, Texas/May 16, 2025-On Friday, May16th at approximately 12:55pm, the Odessa Police Department responded to the 800 block of E. 4th St. in reference to a check welfare. Officers located a deceased 67-year-old female outside of the residence. The OPD Criminal Investigation Division responded to the scene. This is currently being investigated as a suspicious death and foul play isn’t being ruled out. Next of kin have been notified and the investigation continues.

Odessa Police Department Parking Garage Demolition Now Underway

Odessa, Texas/January 26, 2025-The 42-year-old Odessa Police Department’s two-story parking garage is currently being demolished. Due to its age, pieces of the structure started breaking off causing safety concerns.

In 2023 the previous Odessa City Council approved the demolition of the OPD parking garage. The current City Council will soon discuss the next phase regarding the structure.

Parking near and around the Odessa Police Department and Municipal Court has become a problem for residents needing to visit these locations.

Odessa Fire Rescue and the Odessa Police Department’s Annual Trunk or Treat Event

Odessa, Texas/November 1, 2024-Odessa Fire Rescue and the Odessa Police Department along with other first responders, held their annual Trunk or Treat event. Moms and Dads brough their Pre-K Children brought their children to the Central Fire Station and Administration Building for the free family event.

Ector County Republican Party Holds First Responder Pancake Breakfas

The Ector County Republican Party under the leadership of Party Chair, Donna Kelm held a pancake breakfast at the ECRP Headquarters for 1st Responders that included the Ector County Sheriff’s Office, Texas Department of Public Safety and other local law enforcement agencies.
