Masa Bakery in Odessa, Texas Celebrates End of the School Year with Free Hot Dogs and Drinks

Odessa, Texas/May 22, 2025-MASA BAKERY in Odessa celebrated the end of the school year with kids and parents with free hot dogs and drinks. Children from Lamar Pre-School and other surrounding ECISD elementary schools came out to the celebration. MASA BAKERY staff and volunteers helped prepare the yummy hot dogs several hours before school let out for the summer break.

Lidera Con Propositor 2025 Hispanic Women Leadership Conference

Midland, Texas/May 20, 2025-On Saturday, May 17th, Latina Social by Gitsy Vasquez presented a Hispanic Women’s Leadership Conference. The purpose of the conference is to bridge the gap between Hispanic Women and the mainstream. The event featured guest speakers from the Houston area and from Midland-Odessa that presented information on the fundamentals of creating a business and other leadership paradigm

Lucy Sisniega, a commercial realtor was one of the event presenters. She sees the need to have more women involved in a career, in a business and to have an impact in the business community.

VFW Post 4372 Car & Bike Show Benefitting Local Veterans

Odessa, Texas/May 20, 2025-The VFW Post 4372 recently held their mega car show at the VFW Headquarters off of Andrews Hwy and VFW Lane. The car show featured vintage cars and trucks from yester-year as well as motorcycles and other attractions. The funds raised from the Car Show event benefit veterans who need assistance for bills, healthcare and other special needs like funeral costs.

Vendors from across the Permian Basin showcased specialty items for sale as well as several food trucks. A motorcycle ministry provided snacks and information on resources available to visitors as well as the Honor Flight Organization giving out information and fundraising.

Odessa Police Investigating Fatal Motorcycle Crash on East 42nd Street and Englewood Ln.

Odessa, Texas/May 16, 2025-On Friday, May 16th at approximately 10:47am, Odessa Police and Odessa Fire Rescue were dispatched to a major crash at 42nd St and Englewood Ln. 

The Investigation revealed that a silver 2018 Jeep Latitude was stopped facing West in the 3800 block of E. 42nd Street. A white 2025 Kawasaki motorcycle was eastbound in the right turn lane of the 3800 block of E. 42nd.
The driver of the Jeep turned south onto Englewood Ln. The motorcyclist, later identified as 19-year-old Jordan Richard of Odessa, continued East in the right turn lane at a high rate of speed. This series of events caused the motorcycle to strike the front right of the Jeep.
Richard was pronounced deceased on scene and next of kin have been notified. The investigation continues.

Odessa Police Investigating Suspicious Death

Odessa, Texas/May 16, 2025-On Friday, May16th at approximately 12:55pm, the Odessa Police Department responded to the 800 block of E. 4th St. in reference to a check welfare. Officers located a deceased 67-year-old female outside of the residence. The OPD Criminal Investigation Division responded to the scene. This is currently being investigated as a suspicious death and foul play isn’t being ruled out. Next of kin have been notified and the investigation continues.

Midland Hispanic Chamber of Commerce 2nd Annual Business Expo at the Midland County Horseshoe

Midland, Texas/May 12, 2025-The Midland Hispanic Chamber of Commerce held their 2nd Annual Business Expo at the Midland County Horseshoe Pavillion. Approximately 100 businesses from the Midland and Odessa area and from across the state participated in the Expo.

The Business Expo featured workshops on various topics that included information from the Better Business Bureau, the importance of proper bookkeeping and new business strategies using AI technology.

The City of Midland Deputy City Manager Morris Williams presented a city proclamation recognizing the Midland Hispanic Chamber of Commerce 2nd Annual Business Expo and recognizing Savanah Morales, President and CEO of the Midland Hispanic Chamber for her continued effort in bringing small and startup businesses to the forefront.
