Meals on Wheels of Odessa Receives Donation from Phillips 66

Odessa, Texas/August 24, 2025-Welcome to DRB MEDIA COMMUNICATIONS DIGITAL NEWS. Meals on Wheels of Odessa and Phillips 66 held a check presentation ceremony. Danny Barrera has the story. 

Meals on Wheels of Odessa recently received a generous donation of $42,000 from Phillips 66 as part of the Summer Match Challenge program. In addition to the financial support, Phillips 66 employees volunteered their time to deliver meals to elderly and homebound clients, lending a helping hand directly to those in need.

Phillips 66 had a team of 13 employees who committed to covering 13 delivery routes as part of the Corporate Takeover Initiative, while also learning more about the services Meals on Wheels of Odessa provides to clients five days a week.

Sanctuary Wyrd Hosts Fundraising Vendor Market and Heavy Metal Concert

Odessa, Texas/August 20, 2025-This is DRB MEDIA COMMUNICATIONS DIGITAL NEWS. Sanctuary Wyrd in Odessa recently held a fundraising event to raise money for those affected by the flooding in the Hill Country of Central Texas. Danny Barrera has the story. 

Several vendors showcasing and selling their items along with food trucks came out to participate and support Sanctuary Wyrd’s recent fundraising event to help those affected by the July 4th flooding that took the lives of adults, children and those attending summer camp.

The Lughnasadh Sabbath market fundraising event and concert raised 1500 dollars to help with flood victims’ relief in Kerr County and surround flood zone area.

United Way of Odessa Kicks Off Its 2025 Campaign Season at Odessa College

 

Odessa, Texas/August 14, 2025-This is DRB MEDIA COMMUNICATIONS DIGITAL NEWS. United Way of Odessa held their 2025 kickoff campaign at Odessa College. Stephanie Meyers has the story. 

The United Way of Odessa has officially launched its outreach efforts for the 2025 Campaign Season, visiting small and large businesses, along with their employees, to encourage contributions and community support.

The United Way of Odessa is seeing growing needs in the community, including help with rising electric bills, overcoming food barriers, access to counseling services, childcare for new parents, and other essential support.

Black Chamber of Commerce -Special Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at Klpnotic Barber Company

Odessa, Texas/August 13, 2025-The Black Chamber of Commerce of the Permian Basin welcomed a new business to the community with a ribbon-cutting ceremony for KLPNOTIC Barber Company. 

The shop, located at 6901 Cross B Road, Suite 155, near the Bell-Park Ranch area, celebrated its official opening with local leaders, chamber members, and community supporters in attendance.

Ector County ISD First Day of School

Odessa, Texas/August 11, 2025-Ector County ISD kicked off the first day of school with Pre-K and elementary students heading eagerly to their classrooms.

Ector County ISD is expanding its Pre-K program with the the opening of the Burleson Early Education Center. The district aims to give 3- and 4-year-old students a strong start, focusing on early learning skills to ensure they are prepared for success when they enter Kindergarten.

The State Legislature passed Texas House Bill 1481 during the 89th Legislative session, it requires all school systems to adopt and implement a policy prohibiting students the use of perseonal communication devises such as cellphones, tablets, smartwatches on school property during the school day.

MASA BAKERY located between 5th and 6th Street off of Jefferson behind Lamar Early Education Center provided a free creal breakfast to school age children in celebration of the first day of school.

Odessa, Texas/August 10, 2025-The Odessa Police Department held their Annual Back To School Bash at McKInney Park on Saturday, August 9th. Families came out to see the SWAT Armored vehicles, the OPD Crime Scene Unit and other hardware. Children enjoyed the various activites and Jumpers and recieved school supplies for the new school year.
