Jersey Mike’s Subs 15th Annual March Month of Giving

Odessa, Texas/March 27, 2025-Meals on Wheels of Odessa and Senior Life in Midland joined up with Jersey Mike’s Subs for the 15th Annual March Month of Giving campaign to support the local non-profit charities to help Wipe Out Senior Hunger.

March 26th was the Day of Giving where Jersey Mike’s Subs donated 100 percent of the day’s sales to Meals on Wheels of Odessa and Senior Life in Midland.

Since the Month of Giving began in 2011, Jersey Mike’s Subs with around 4 thousand store locations has raised more than $113 million for local charities.

Texas Tech Health Science Center Permian Basin Match Day

Odessa, Texas/March 24, 2025-Texas Tech Health Science Center’s School of medicine students recently participated in Match Day. 168 students from across the nation, 26 medical students from Texas Tech Health Science Center Permian are set to graduate in May of 2025.

Carina Goodart, a fourth-year medical student from El Paso got into medical school when she was in High School, she continued her studies in Lubbock. She will be graduating from Texas Tech Health Science Center School of Medicine Permian Basin in May 2025.

Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) Program at Medical Center Hospital

Odessa, Texas/March 21, 2025-Medical Center Hospital is one of the few Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner programs also known as SANE in the area. A Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner is a registered nurse with specialized training and certification to provide medical care and conduct forensic examinations for patients who have experienced sexual assault, abuse or incest.

Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners are important to the healthcare system by making sure that survivors receive the appropriate medical treatment, and that evidence is gathered properly for legal purposes.

SANE Nurses improve sexual assault patient outcomes by building relationships, practicing patient empathy without compromising emotional support.

Zhachery Dewain Hunt Arrested for Stabbing Resulting in a Death

Ector County, Texas/March 18, 2025-On Tuesday, March 18h at approximately 9:08 am Ector County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 2500 Block of West 87th Street, after receiving a call from a distraught female reporting a stabbing and possible shooting at a residence in the West 87th location. 

When Deputies arrived, they discovered a 29-year-old male deceased from apparent stab wounds and a 59-year-old female injured from stab wounds as well. 

The investigation revealed that an altercation occurred between Zhachery Dewain Hunt, 30 years of age and the deceased male. Hunt was taken into custody and will be charged First Degree Murder. Additional charges are pending. 

The injured female was transported to Medical Center Hospital by Odessa Fire Rescue and is in stable condition. 

The investigation is ongoing.

Village Day, A Community Celebration in the Heart of Southside Odessa

The Woodson Boys and Girls Club in the heart of southside Odessa hosted Village Day on Sunday, March 9th. A new nonprofit organization from Midland called VILLAGE, celebrates families and children with free toys and give aways from several businesses, free food, music and games and lots of fun.
