Medical Center Health System Kickoff National Nurses Week 2024

 

Odessa, Texas/May 6, 2024-Medical Center Health System is celebrating National Nurses Week 2024, that begins on May 6th and runs through May 12th. Medical Center Hospital kicked off the event with a Nursing Flagpole Dedication in honor of the start of Nurses Weeks.

With the increase of international newcomers to West Texas and the Permian Basin, MCH nurses use various translation tools to help non-English speaking patients with information regarding their healthcare.

Food trucks will be at the Medical Center Hospital campus offering a wide selection of meals and treats for nurses and staff.

Pink The Basin Gives Large Donation for Uninsured Cancer Patients

 

Odessa, Texas/March 27, 2024-Pink the Basin held a check presentation at Medical Center Hospital and awarded MCH $150 Thousand dollars to assist women and men who do not have insurance, who are underinsured or have a high copy or a high deductible that need a mammogram, Diagonostic mammogram or biopsy.

Pink the Basin held their annual luncheon last October during Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The organization raised approximately $665 Thousand dollars this year and gave out several thousands of dollars to area hospitals.

Medical Center Health System Holds Active Shooter Drill

 

Odessa, Texas/November 16, 2023-On Tuesday, November 14th, Medical Center Health System along with several local law enforcement agencies and selected volunteers portraying victims, held an Active Shooter Drill. That began at the Wheatley Stewart Medical Pavillion and concluded inside Medical Center Hospital.

Scenarios change every year, including tornadoes, mass casualties, and active shooter drills. This is a requirement for accreditation for the Medical Center Health System.

MCH Emergency Management, Ector County Hospital District Police and other officials associated with Active Shooter Drill, determined in the debriefing portion of the training found weak spots in certain areas of the hospital.

Children’s Miracle Network Reveals Balloon Logo at MCH Center for Women and Infants

Odessa, Texas/May 16, 2023-On Tuesday, May 16th, Medical Center Health System and Children’s Miracle Network unveiled the CMN Logo on the exterior of the MCH Center for Women and Infants. The reveal has been in the making and highlights MCH being a Children’s Miracle Network Hospital since 1987.

The Children’s Miracle Network, under the guidance of Medical Center Health System Foundation helps Medical Center Health System maintain a high standard for delivering outstanding care through purchasing lifesaving equipment for the NICU and pediatric unit.

Children’s Miracle Network works with local and corporate partners to advocate for children’s health, and continues to bring in funds for Pediatrics and Neonatal Intensive Care. It is through CMN donations that children can be treated at Medical Center Hospital, regardless of payment.

Odessa Hispanic Chamber of Commerce First Annual Cinco De Mayo Kickoff Celebration

Odessa, Texas/May 1, 2023-The Odessa Hispanic Chamber of Commerce held their first annual CINCO DE MAYO Kickoff event at La Margarita fairgrounds on Saturday evening, April 29th. Several hundred visitors enjoyed the various food trucks and vendors at the event.

The CINCO DE MAYO Kickoff is the Odessa Hispanic Chamber of Commerce first major fundraising event, that included mariachis and K-POP style dancing. Several non-profit organizations were on the fairgrounds providing information on services they provide

Several small businesses supported the Kickoff event by selling merchandise and tasty food products like Salsas and other tasty treats as well as Sam’s Brittle Creations, a family-owned business.
