VFW Post 4372 July 4th Independence Day Vendors Market & Family Picnic Celebration

Odessa, Texas/July 6, 2024-The VFW Post 4372 located at 208 E. 63rd St. Held an Independance Day Celebration vendors market and picnic. Vendors sold a wide variety of items from fashion, woodworking, arts and crafts and all types of eats and treats.

Kids of all ages enjoyed fun water activities, and families were treated to free Hamburgers Hotdogs and drinks.

Over 200 people visited the VFW July 4th Vendor’s Market and picnic that included fireworks provided by Truckload Fireworks. VFW Post 4372 plan to add more attractions to next year’s July 4th‘s Independence Day celebration.

Raza Style Ministry Holds Water Baptism and Bike Blessing at Floyd Gwin Park

Odessa, Texas/July 2, 2024-Raza Style Ministry recently held its first annual Water Baptism and Bike Blessing at Floyd Gwin Park. Several food vendors and arts and crafts booths participated in the special event.

Westminster Presbyterian Church Holds Monthly Food Box Distribution Event for Needy Residents

Odessa, Texas/June 29, 2024-The Westminster Presbyterian Church located at the corner of Maple and JBS Parkway in Odessa held their end of the month food box distribution event. Church volunteers along with staff and members of the Odessa Family YMCA help with the food distribution project.

The food was provided by the West Texas Food Bank and monetary donations from the public. Westminster Presbyterian Church has food pantry budget to purchase additional food.

There is an increase of newcomers to Odessa, especially within the Cuban community and due to a language and dialect barrier, it is at times difficult for Church volunteers to understand their food needs.

Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center Permian Basin Welcomes New Class of Medical Professionals

Odessa, Texas/June 28, 2024-Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center Permian Basin recently hosted a welcome event for the new class of Medical Professional. The new medical staff were fitted with their new lab coats and prepared for orientation.

Dr. Don Garnsey, a first-year medical residency professional moved to Odessa from Harvey Michigan in 2011 to work in the oil and gas industry. He was later inspired by his mother a nurse partitioner, to go into the medical profession.

Dr. Garnsey hopes to stay in Odessa and practice in a rural community, hoping for West Odessa to help residents in that area become healthier.

Midland Animal Shelter Plagued by Capacity Issues
