Odessa, Texas/September 24, 2023-On Saturday, September 23rd, Hope Alive Chruch of Odessa invited the community to stop by the parking lot of the Barn Door for free donuts and drive-thru prayer.

Recording Library of West Texas/Dining in the Dark Fundraising Event

Midland, Texas/September 17, 2023-The Recording Library of West Texas is an organization that was established in 1963 and is dedicated to improving the lives of people by providing high quality audio for individuals who are blind, print impaired or have low vision.

Clients of the Recording Library of West Texas send in their requests for a specific text, audio length and what digital format they need it in. A production specialist is assigned to work with the client.

Odessa City Council Vote in Favor of Not Enforcing Imposed National or State of Texas Covid Mandates

Reach Recovery Ministry Annual Recovery and Volleyball Tournament

Odessa, Texas/September 10, 2023-September is Recovery and Drug Overdose Month. Reach Recovery Ministry hosted the Recovery and Volleyball Tournament at Sherwood Park in Odessa. The purpose of the event is to bring awareness and to raise money and to bring the community together.

The annual Recovery Event featured a volleyball tournament between Odessa PD and Midland PD, vendors as well as Medical Center Hospital, counseling service agencies and other organizations.

Several faith-based substance abuse rehab and counseling organizations traveled to Odessa to participate in the Recovery and Volleyball Tournament at Sherwood Park.

West Texas Knockout Boxing Club Hosting West Texas Mega Show at the Ector County Coliseum

Odessa, Texas/September 10, 2023-Teresa Vasquez with the Odessa Chamber of Commerce/Discover Odessa announced a boxing event hosted by West Texas Knockout at the Ector County Coliseum. The two-day boxing event will feature two boxing rings, 100 matches and around 200 boxers.

Boxing Clubs from across the U.S. and Texas including Gorilla Heavy Hitters Boxing Club will be competing on Friday, September 15th and Saturday, September 16th. Augie Tapia has put together The West Texas Mega Show to bring the entire community together for two days of exciting entertainment and boxing.

Texas Workforce Commission Presents JET Grants to Odessa College and Three Permian Basin ISDs

Odessa, Texas/September 9, 2023-The Texas Workforce Commission in partnership with Odessa College hosted a presentation of six jobs and Education for Texans Grant also known as the JET GRANT was held at the OC Welding Lab located in Sedate Hall. The JET Grant totaling $2, 566, 283 will benefit Pecos-Barstow-Toya ISD, Grandfalls-Royalty ISD, Monahans-Wickett-Pyote ISD and Odessa College.

Texas Workforce Commissioner Alberto Treviño presented checks to Pecos-Barstow-Toya ISD, Grandfalls-Royalty ISD, Monahans-Wickett-Pyote ISD and Odessa College. The JET Grant will provide money to help with start-up costs with the development of career and technical education programs.

Odessa College received two JET Grants totaling over 223,000 dollars to fund the Welding Program equipment with Crane ISD and the Automation equipment at the OC Pecos campus.

The JET Grant provides CTE programs to public community and technical colleges and ISD school districts for the purchase and installation of equipment necessary for the development of career and technical education courses that lead to a license, certificate, and post –secondary degree in a high-demand occupation.
