Texas Senator Joan Huffman and a Candidate for Attorney General of Texas Visits Odessa

Odessa, Texas/October 13, 2025-The Ector County Republican Party and the Ector County Republican Women hosted a hot dog dinner to welcome Joan Huffman, Texas Senator for the 17th District and candidate for Attorney General of Texas. Senator Huffman spent time visiting with party members and guests, sharing her vision and priorities for the state.

Texas Senator Joan Huffman has strong ties to Odessa and the Permian Basin through her husband, who is originally from Odessa and is part of the region’s oil and gas business community. Local Republican leaders and voters expressed confidence that Senator Huffman will be the next Attorney General for the State of Texas.

National Night Out 2025

Odessa, Texas/October 9, 2025-On Tuesday, October 7th, the Odessa Police Department, Odessa Fire Rescue, and the Ector County Sheriff’s Office visited more than a dozen locations across the City of Odessa — including a downtown nonprofit and several places of worship — as part of the annual National Night Out event.

Families attending Iglesia De Amor were excited to celebrate the church’s third year participating in National Night Out. The pastors say the annual event is a meaningful way to bring the neighborhood together for fellowship while helping to build stronger connections between residents, law enforcement, and first responders.

Black Chamber of Commerce of the Permian Basin -35th Annual Ebony Bar Awards

Odessa, Texas/October 7, 2025-The Black Chamber of Commerce of the Permian Basin Held their 35th Annual Ebony Bar Awards. Danny Barrera has the story. 

The MCM Grande Hotel and Fun dome recently hosted the Black Chamber of Commerce of the Permian Basin and the 35th Annual Ebony Bar Awards. This year, local entrepreneurs were honored for their contributions to the Odessa economy.

Several nonprofit organizations, Medical and scholastic institutions and local businesses participated in the special event. Representatives from the city of Odessa and Ector County came out in support of the recipients receiving the Ebony Bar Awards.

Sister City Showdown Challenge hosted by URBAN AIR in Music City Mall

Odessa, Texas/October 1, 2025-This is DRB Media Communications Digital News. Urban Air indoor park at Music City Mall recently hosted a very special event for Special Olympics Texas. Danny Barrera has the story. 

Urban Air inside Music City Mall hosted the Sister City Showdown Challenge, where governmental bodies and departments from Odessa and Midland — including the Fire and Police Departments — competed in support of Special Olympics.

The Sister City Showdown raised funds to support Special Olympics Texas and its upcoming State Fall Classic, where nearly 1,200 athletes from across the state will compete.

West Texas Food Bank Odessa Campus Special Legislative Staffers Luncheon

Legislative staffers came to the West Texas Food Bank, Odessa Campus for a special luncheon and to hear a presentation from Dr. Ray Perryman on the economy, economic impact of oil and gas and food insecurity.

Dr. Ray Perryman, President and CEO of the Perryman Group, an economic research organization presented to the Legislative staffers the economic impact of hunger on job performance, income, education, quality of life and other issue related to food insecurity.
