Odessa, Texas/July 23, 2025-The Odessa Family YMCA School Supply Drive is now in progress until August 1st. Anyone can bring in at least 2 items from the list of supplies provided by the YMCA, then received a voucher for Chick-Fil-A locations on 42nd Street or University Blvd.

2nd Annual Black Chamber of Commerce of the Permian Basin Bowling Tournament

Odessa, Texas/July 21, 2025-The Black Chamber of Commerce of the Permian Basin held their 2nd Annual Bowling Tournament at Diamond Lanes on East 8th Street in Odessa. Teams competed for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. Raffles were held throughout the 3-game tournament.

The fundraiser only provided scholarships to graduates from the Ector County ISD school district. Students who are in their senior year from across the Permian Basin are now encouraged to apply for the Black Chamber of Commerce of the Permian Basin scholarships.

Last year funds from the first annual Black Chamber of Commerce of the Permian Basin Bowling Tournament raised over $5 Thousand Dollars.

Trophies were awarded at the end of the bowling tournament. Walker Photography earned 3rd Place. Williams Paving, 2nd Place and Southside VFW Post 6717 earned 1st Place.

Hispanic Heritage of Odessa and LULAC Host Professional Women Luncheon

Odessa, Texas/July 14, 2025-Hispanic Heritage of Odessa and LU LAC invited local professional women who represent the city of Odessa, Ector County ISD and other institutions to a lunch hosted by La Hacienda Vieja. The purpose of the luncheon was to network, coordinate and strategize upcoming events that can make an impact on the social aspects of the community of Odessa.

Odessa City Council Special Remembrance of Flash Flood Victims

Odessa, Texas/July 10, 2025-Before the start of the July 8th Odessa City Council meeting a special moment of silence was held in honor of Odessa Police Office Bailey Martin and those who perished in the flash flood in Central Texas.

Odessa City Council members Craig Stoker and Greg Connell along with Ector County Republican Party Chair, Donna Kelm and Former Ector County Judge Debi Hays, volunteers were at Memorial Gardens Park placing green ribbons on trees near the pond in remembrance of Odessa Police Officer Bailey Martin and those that have died and those that are still missing from the flash flood that occurred in the Hill Country particularly around the Guadalupe River in Kerr County over the 4th of July weekend.

State Senator Kevin Sparks of Texas District 31 and State Representative Brooks Landgraf of Texas District 81 will be heading back to Austin for a special legislative session to work on solutions such as a warning system for flash flood areas.

Texas Stock Rally Holds Cars & Coffee Event at the Wagner Noel Performing Arts Center Location

June 29, 2025/Midland, Texas-On Saturday morning Texas Stock Rally held CARS & COFFEE at the Wagner-Noel Performing Arts Center parking lot. This family fun event was free and featured a car show, minibikes, vendors and food trucks.

Texas Stock Rally provided music, donuts and coffee to visitors at the event. The schedule of events featured a Minibike Rev competition followed by the minibike races.

Vendors at the Texas Stock Rally showcased a wide selection of merchandise from Caps, T-Shirts and other specialty items. Food vendors feature delicious food items from the traditional Tamales to Hotdogs.

Ector County ISD Holds Groundbreaking Ceremony for the New CTE Center

Odessa, Texas/June 17, 2025-Hello social media friends, I’m David Gomez for DRB Media Communications Digital News. Ector County ISD officially held a groundbreaking ceremony for the new CTE Building. Jennifer Sanchez has the story. 

ECISD leaders hosted a groundbreaking ceremony on Tuesday morning, June 17th. Voters approved the November 2023 Bond for the new Career & Technical Education Center. Located in southeast Odessa.

Partnerships with local industry and the Permian Strategic Partnership who donate 10 million dollars to the CTE program will be a key aspect of the ECISD-CTE Campus to prepare students for high-wages in-demand careers in the Permian Basin.
