Ector County ISD First Day of School

Odessa, Texas/August 11, 2025-Ector County ISD kicked off the first day of school with Pre-K and elementary students heading eagerly to their classrooms.

Ector County ISD is expanding its Pre-K program with the the opening of the Burleson Early Education Center. The district aims to give 3- and 4-year-old students a strong start, focusing on early learning skills to ensure they are prepared for success when they enter Kindergarten.

The State Legislature passed Texas House Bill 1481 during the 89th Legislative session, it requires all school systems to adopt and implement a policy prohibiting students the use of perseonal communication devises such as cellphones, tablets, smartwatches on school property during the school day.

MASA BAKERY located between 5th and 6th Street off of Jefferson behind Lamar Early Education Center provided a free creal breakfast to school age children in celebration of the first day of school.

MASA BAKERY will be giving a free creal breakfast to children during the entire school year and into the summer months in 2026.

During this school year, Home School students are not eligable to particpate in extracurricular activites orplay in UIL Sports. A student who is the victim of “bullying” can, by State Law transfer to another school in the school District.

First Week of School at Ector County ISD

Odessa, Texas/August 16, 2024-Ector County ISD started the first day of school this week. Pre-K through 12th grade began the school year meeting new teachers and students and reconnecting with their friends at the secondary level.

Gale Pond Alamo was a magnet school and a STEM learning school, this year Alamo Elementary is part of the NEW TECH Network, which will be a feeder school to NEW TECH at the secondary and high school level.

In 2023, the school district along with Gale Pond Alamo explored the advantages of the New Tech Netwok. Teachers prepared for project-based learning for the 2023-2025 school year.

Dr. Scott Muri, acknowledged that he would be retiring from ECISD and the formal announcement would be made during a special meeting of the Ector County ISD School Board.
