Governor Greg Abbott Visits the Welding Department at Odessa College

Odessa, Texas/February 3, 2023-On Thursday, February 2nd, Governor Greg Abbott visited the Welding Department at Odessa College, where he, OC President, Dr. Gregory Williams, State Representative, District 81 Brooks Landgraf, State Senator, District 31 Keven Sparks and other officials held a WORKFORCE OF TOMORROW Roundtable discussing the impact that welding has on oil and gas and manufacturing.

The Odessa College welding Department serves students from Ector County ISD and other school districts from around the Permian Basin and West Texas providing graduates that are trained and skilled welders.

Currently there is a high demand for welders in the oil and gas and manufacturing sectors. Odessa College’s Welding program is trying meet the demand.

The Permian Strategic Partnership Provides Funding for the Odessa College Truck Driving Academy

Odessa, Texas/January 19, 2023-Odessa College and the Permian Strategic Partnership announced the OC Truck Driving Academy, that will educate students of the program, through classroom and hands-on-training to acquire their CDL License after graduation.

The Odessa College Truck Driving Academy received a donation of Three Million, five hundred thousand dollars to help expand the Truck Driving Program to accommodate over two hundred students and more for the future.

Odessa, Texas/January 18, 2023-On Wednesday, January 18th, Odessa College welcomed Mr. Beast Burger to the OC campus. Great Western Dining have partnered with Odessa College to diversify the dining experience for students, faculty, staff and campus visitors.

Mr. Beast Burger is located at the Wrangler Grill inside the Saulsbury Campus Center at Odessa College. Mr. Beast Burger will have specialty burgers, grilled sandwiches, sides, beverages and other specialty items.

Visitors to the free event enjoyed ice skating on the artificial ice rink, hot chocolate, popcorn, tacos provided by the culinary department at Odessa College, a food truck, and pictures with Santa and Mrs. Claus.

Odessa College Veterans’ Day Flag Raising Ceremony-DRB Media Communications Digital News

Odessa, Texas/November 11, 2022-Odessa College Staff and Students gathered at the Saulsbury Campus Center to honor military veterans during the annual Veteran’s Day Flag Raising Ceremony Center. 

Odessa College Instructional Technology and Programming Specialist and Military Veteran, Alex Moreno was the featured speaker.

Moren joined the Marine Corps and served from October 1990 to November 2010. He was deployed twice during his service once to Operation Restore Hope in Somalia and in Operation Enduring Freedom in Iraq.
