West Texas Food Bank Boom Town Showdown

Midland, Texas/September 16, 2024-The West Texas Food Bank recently kicked off Hunger Action Month with the Boom Town Showdown at Ovintiv. Several different oil companies are competing for the King of the Road Trophy.

The Boom Town Showdown aims to make an impact to build a goal of 35,000 boxes for families in need during the holiday season.

The Boom Town Showdown continues on September 18 at OXY, American Well Service on the 20th, Pro Petro on the 24th, Conoco Phillips on the 26th, Conterra on the 27th and Fasken on September 30th.

Nimitz Middle School Goes into Lockdown

Odessa, Texas/September 13, 2024-Nimitz Middle School went into lockdown around mid-morning on Friday, September 13th. Police Chief Mike Gerek said that officers were going room to room. ECISD Police along with Odessa Police were actively involved in the investigation. Postings on social media added to the confusion creating panic among students and parents. 

Around 2pm, Ector County ISD lifted the lockdown at Nimitz Middle School and parents were allowed to pick their children. Police have found no evidence of a shooter nor a weapon. And are investigating this as a hoax intended to cause panic at the school. 

There is an unofficial report that a student was arrested for yelling “GUN” at the school.

VIP and Public I-Beam Signing and Placement Hosted by the Ellen Art Museum of the Permian Basin

Odessa, Texas/September 12, 2024-The Ellen Noel Art Museum of the Permian Basin recently hosted a public I-Beam Signing. This event allowed the community to come out and sign their name on final I-Beam. Students from STEM Academy located on the UTPB Campus place their mark on the beam.

On Wednesday, September 11th, The Ellen Noel Art Museum held its VIP I-Beam Signing. Visitors and students viewed the final beam placement on the museum’s renovation project.

The construction of the Ellen Noel Art Museum Renovation Project began in December of 2023, and will open to the public sometime in summer of 2026.

Los Toxicos Cantina in Odessa Hosts Representative August Pfluger’s Morning Town Hall

Odessa, Texas/September 8, 2024-Los Toxicos Cantina in Odessa hosted United States Representative August Pfluger of the 11th District of Texas. City of Odessa officials, business owners and residents came to morning event.

Kent Companies Celebrate New Kent Kwik and a $90,000 Check Presentation to Harmony Home

Odessa, Texas/September 6, 2024-The Kent Companies celebrated the Grand Opening with a ribbon cutting ceremony of the Kent Kwik Convenience store at 3700 Yukon Rd., in northeast Odessa.
