Odessa Police Investigating Fatal Motorcycle Crash on East 42nd Street and Englewood Ln.

Odessa, Texas/May 16, 2025-On Friday, May 16th at approximately 10:47am, Odessa Police and Odessa Fire Rescue were dispatched to a major crash at 42nd St and Englewood Ln. 

The Investigation revealed that a silver 2018 Jeep Latitude was stopped facing West in the 3800 block of E. 42nd Street. A white 2025 Kawasaki motorcycle was eastbound in the right turn lane of the 3800 block of E. 42nd.
The driver of the Jeep turned south onto Englewood Ln. The motorcyclist, later identified as 19-year-old Jordan Richard of Odessa, continued East in the right turn lane at a high rate of speed. This series of events caused the motorcycle to strike the front right of the Jeep.
Richard was pronounced deceased on scene and next of kin have been notified. The investigation continues.

Odessa Police Investigating Suspicious Death

Odessa, Texas/May 16, 2025-On Friday, May16th at approximately 12:55pm, the Odessa Police Department responded to the 800 block of E. 4th St. in reference to a check welfare. Officers located a deceased 67-year-old female outside of the residence. The OPD Criminal Investigation Division responded to the scene. This is currently being investigated as a suspicious death and foul play isn’t being ruled out. Next of kin have been notified and the investigation continues.

Midland Hispanic Chamber of Commerce 2nd Annual Business Expo at the Midland County Horseshoe

Midland, Texas/May 12, 2025-The Midland Hispanic Chamber of Commerce held their 2nd Annual Business Expo at the Midland County Horseshoe Pavillion. Approximately 100 businesses from the Midland and Odessa area and from across the state participated in the Expo.

The Business Expo featured workshops on various topics that included information from the Better Business Bureau, the importance of proper bookkeeping and new business strategies using AI technology.

Odessa, Texas/May 11, 2025-On Thursday, May 8th the Odessa Police Department along with the Ector County Sheriff’s Office, Midland Police Department, the Midland County Sheriff’s Office, the Texas Department of Public Safety and Odessa Fire Rescue held the annual Police Memorial at Sunset Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home. Officers with Ector County ISD Police and other agencies gathered to remember Law Enforcement Officers who were killed in the line of duty. Government Officials with the City of Odessa and Midland and Ector County presented proclamations in remembrance of the Police Memorial-Honoring the live of Our Fallen Heroes.

Every Traveler at the Airport Security Checkpoint Must Have a REAL ID

Midland, Texas/May 8, 2025-May 7th, was the deadline for every traveler who comes to an airport security checkpoint will be required to present a REAL ID. The 911 commission recommended REAL ID as an additional layer of security for travelers at TSA checkpoints.

REAL ID requires that each person verify their identity when purchasing a ticket. All documents with an expiration date are considered REAL ID compliant.

If you do not have a REAL ID driver license you must arrive approximately 7 hours before your flight for TSA to verify your identity. However, it is not guaranteed that you would be able to make you board your flight.
