United Way of Odessa 2023 2024 Report Luncheon and Awards Ceremony

Odessa, Texas/March 2, 2024-The United Way of Odessa recently held their Annual Report 2023 and Luncheon at the MCM Grande Fundome. Several Nonprofit agencies along with the City of Odessa, Ector County ISD and Odessa College participated in the event.

Odessa Sports Complex Soft Groundbreaking Ceremony

Odessa, Texas/March 1, 2024-Recently the City of Odessa held a soft groundbreaking ceremony at the new site of the Odessa Sports Complex. City Officials and Dignitaries attended the special ceremony. This project has been in the works for several decades.

The Odessa Sports Complex will include up to 20 volleyball courts, 10 basketball courts, baseball and soccer fields.

The approximately 100-thousand square foot Sports Complex will be a Public-Private Partnership with an estimated cost of about 70 million dollars. It is estimated that the complex will generate millions of dollars through sporting events

Larry Bell and his family donated 100 acres of land within the Parks Bell Ranch Master Development to begin the Odessa Sports Complex.

Osaka Japanese Steakhouse in Odessa and Midland Celebrate 20-Years in Business

Odessa, Texas/February 27, 2024-Osaka Japanese Steakhouse located in Midland and Odessa celebrated their 20-year anniversary. The Odessa Chamber of Commerce, The Midland Hispanic chamber of Commerce and the Odessa Hispanic Chamber of Commerce along with Odessa Mayor Javier Joven and guests celebrated the momentous occasion.

Odessa High School Goes Into Lockdown-Shots Fired In A OHS Parking Lot- One Injured

Odessa, Texas/February 26, 2024-On Monday morning, February 26th, Odessa High School was put into lockdown after a report of a student shot in the parking lot.

One person, believed to be a female student was shot with non-life-threatening injuries. Several ECISD students were taken into custody.

At approximately 11:30am ECISD Police determined Odessa High School was safe and began releasing students. ECISD has announced that a 15-year-old male was charged with 2 counts of aggravated assault, Felony 2, Unlawful Carry Weapons, Class A Misdemeanor, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Feleony2

Local and State Officials Hold Press Conference After an Alleged Assault by Two Candidates On Each Other

Odessa, Texas/February 25, 2024-Ector County Judge Dustin Fawcett, State Representative Brooks Landgraf and Sheriff Mike Griffis recently held a press conference to address a physical assault between two candidates currently running for positions within the Ector County Republican Party that occurred on Thursday, February 22nd at the parking lot of the Ector County Courthouse Administration Building on East 8th Street.

State Representative Brooks Landgraf spoke on the need for peace and harmony from candidates and those helping them, as voters are going to the Early Voting locations to cast their vote.

Judge Fawcett and Sheriff Griffis plan to have off duty officers at the various voting locations with the approval of the Ector County Commissioners.

The alleged assault between Carmen Wilhite and Donna Kelm is considered a Class C Misdemeanor. According to a spokesperson for Donna Kelm, Kelm was taken to a local hospital after the alleged assault and treated for neck, arm and back pain.

There have been charges filed with the Odessa Police Department by a candidate running for Precinct Chair against a Precinct Chair seeking re-election for allegedly attempting to bribe a voter during Early Voting at the Ector County Annex Building.

Carmen Wilhite and Donna Kelm have filled alleged assault charges on each other with the Odessa Police Department, who took the original report at the Ector County Annex Building.

Hispanic Heritage of Odessa & LULAC Kickoff “Breakfast with a Champion” a New Monthly Event

Odessa, Texas/January 21, 2024-Hispanic Heritage of Odessa part of L.U.L.A.C. of Odessa kicked off a new monthly event called Breakfast with a Champion. This monthly event recognizes Educators, business leaders and those who have made an impact in the communities of Odessa and Ector County.
