Murder and Mayhem in West Texas Book Signing Event at the University of Texas Permian Basin

Odessa, Texas/December 6, 2023-John Fisher, Associate Professor of Criminal Justice at the University of Texas Permian Basin along with his research students collaborated on a writing project that turned into a book called MURDER AND MAYEM IN WEST TEXAS.

The Criminal Justice students reached out to local and area Law Enforcement Agencies and looked at case records and reports and conducted interviews with some of the Police Officers that were involved in investigating these crimes.

Una Mano Amigo Para Todos Hosts Annual Cultural Unity Event and Christmas Season Kickoff

On Sunday, December 3rd, Una Mano Amiga Para Todos, hosted an event to unify the Hispanic community of Odessa. Nonprofit organizations at the event answered question and offered information of the services they provide to low-income families and to newcomers form other Latin American Countries.

Una Mano Amiga Para Todos cultural event featured a Baile folklorico an indigenous Latin American Dance group with colorful costumes, a wide selection of cuisine and deserts. This event was a kickoff to the Christmas Season.

Odessa College Safety Training Approved for OSHA Alliance Program

Odessa, Texas/December 2, 2023-Odessa College recently hosted an OSHA Alliance signing and Safety Training Open House at the OC Training Center to celebrate its approval into the OSHA Alliance Program. 

The OSHA Area Director and members of the OSHA Regional and National Offices joined Odessa College faculty, staff and administration for the formal signing ceremony.

The OSHA Alliance will provide an opportunity for students to earn the OSHA credential while enhancing the curriculum for both safety training as well as the Occupational Safety and Environmental Technology programs.

UTPB Hosts Randy Rattlesnake Written by Tara Wilson Book Signing Event

Odessa, Texas/December 1, 2023-University of Texas Permian Basin hosted a book signing event featuring Randy Rattlesnake, a children’s book written by UTPB College of Education faculty member Tara Wilson.

Randy Rattlesnake is an educational and entertaining story that follows the journey of Randy, a landowner faced with a big decision when an oil company expresses interest in drilling on his land.

Meals on Wheels and Copper Key Realty Kick Off GIVING TUESDAY

Ector County Republican Women’s Club November 2023 Luncheon

Odessa, Texas/November 22, 2023-The Ector County Republican Women’s Club recently held their regular monthly luncheon at the Odessa Country Club. The event featured: Dr. Dana Myers, Vice-Chairman of the Texas Republican Party, Kit Whitehill, President of the Texas Federation of Republican Women and David Luther, President of the Texas Republican County Chairs Association. The ECRW presented Leonor Burton, practicing Messianic Judaism, and representative of THE HOUSE OF THE WAY, began the November luncheon with a prayer in English and in Hebrew in solidarity with Israel.
