The Ellen Noel Art Museum Capital Expansion Project Mentors UTPB STEM Academy Engineering Students

Odessa, Texas/May 15, 2024-The Ellen Noel Art Museum hosted the Engineering Students of the STEM academy at the University of Texas Permian Basin. The students did a walkthrough of the facilities at the Ellen Noel Art Museum and interacted with representatives of Parkhill and Lee Lewis Construction.

Parkhill is a multidisciplinary firm that provides comprehensive architectural and engineering design services for government, commercial and intuitional projects.

The museum capital expansion project provided another opportunity for the Ellen Noël Art Museum to support education in the community.

Congressman August Pfluger and EPA Region 6 Administrator Hold Meeting

Midland, Texas/May 12, 2024-Congressman August Pfluger representing the 11th District of Texas along with State Representative Brooks Landgraf, State Senator, District 31 Kevin Sparks and City of Midland Mayor Lori Blong held a special meeting with Dr. Earthea Nance, Regional Administrator for EPA’s Region 6. Dr. Nance and her team went to a tank battery site on an educational tour to learn of the emissions reductions the Permian Basin is leading in all areas of Production.

The emphasis and goal of the meeting with Dr. Nance, and representatives is to work together, especially with the increase in production to fuel the globe

ECISD Teachers Earn $3 1 Million In Incentives

Odessa, Texas/May 11, 2024-Teachers in Ector County made a big impact on students during the 2023-2024 school year and were recognized and financially rewarded through the Teacher Incentive Allotment program, now in its third year.

On Friday morning, May 10th Dr. Scott Muri, Superintendent of Schools visited Ross Elementary where 9 teachers were recognized, 6 of them having earned “Master” level.

Audrey Carrasco has been teaching for 18 years and is currently a teacher at Goliad Elementary. Ms. Carrasco was awarded a check for over 21 thousand dollars, the largest check awarded.

The Teacher Incentive Allotment program was created by the Texas Legislature in 2019, as part of House Bill 3. The allotment amount per teacher is based on the level of academic growth their students attained.

American Heart Association 20th Annual Go Red For Women

 

Odessa, Texas/May, 2024-The local chapter of the American Heart Association held their annual Go Red for Women Luncheon event. The purpose of the luncheon is to bring awareness about heart health among women. The Go Red For Women event featured a panel of medical experts offering tips on prevention and lifestyle changes.

The Go Red for Women featured survivors of cardiovascular disease, the number 1 killer of women.

Medical Center Health System Kickoff National Nurses Week 2024

 

Odessa, Texas/May 6, 2024-Medical Center Health System is celebrating National Nurses Week 2024, that begins on May 6th and runs through May 12th. Medical Center Hospital kicked off the event with a Nursing Flagpole Dedication in honor of the start of Nurses Weeks.

With the increase of international newcomers to West Texas and the Permian Basin, MCH nurses use various translation tools to help non-English speaking patients with information regarding their healthcare.
