DRB MEDIA COMMUNICATIONS DIGITAL NEWS(111621A)-ODESSA COLLEGE FOUNDATION RECEIVES $1 MILLION

Odessa, Texas/November 16, 2021-On Tuesday, November 16th, the Odessa College foundation received a check for the amount of $1 million dollars to establish the Bill and Jane Hext Endowed Scholarship. Students who qualify for the scholarship will be awarded an $800 dollar scholarship per semester for part time students and $1,600 dollars for full-time students enrolled in technical programs.

The Hext Family Foundation has made contributions throughout the Odessa College Foundation’s history. This new endowed scholarship will allow Odessa College to award a minimum of $30 thousand dollars per academic year.

The available scholarship funds will be used for tuition, fees and books.

Midland, Texas/November 16, 2021-San Jacinto Junior High celebrated the 70th school year with a pep rally on Monday, November 15th. During the event, former students and staff were recognized for their contribution to the school.

Current student groups were recognized. At the pep-rally. Performances included the San Jacinto honor and symphonic bands.

Odessa, Texas/November14, 2021-The Black Chamber of Commerce of the Permian Basin held its 31st Annual Ebony Bar Awards on Saturday, November 13th at the Odessa Country Club honoring Dr. Gregory D. Williams, Odessa College president.

Odessa, Texas/November 14, 2021-WTx Manifest held their music festival launch party on Friday evening, November 12th, hosted by Dos Amigos. A ribbon cutting ceremony kicked off the launch party concert.

Odessa, Texas/November 11, 2021-On Thursday morning, November 11th Odessa College employees and students gathered to honor veterans and observe the annual Veterans’ Day Flag Raising Ceremony.

Odessa College board of trustees member Bruce Shearer was honored with a plaque during the ceremony in recognition of his service to the nation, Odessa College and to the Odessa community.

The Odessa Police Department Honor Guard performed the flag raising ceremony infront of the Saulsbury Campus Center.
