Black Chamber of Commerce of the Permian Basin/33rd Annual Ebony Bar Awards

Odessa, Texas/November 13, 2023-The Black Chamber of Commerce of the Permian Basin held their 33rd Annual Ebony Bar Awards at the MCM Grande Fundome in Odessa, Texas. Members of the BCCPB, invited guests, representatives from Odessa College, UT Permian Basin and supporting businesses attended the event. The Black Chamber Commerce featured a display of photographs by Steve Goff, a retired professor of Photography at Odessa College and the specialty artwork created by Brandon Norman.

This year’s Ebony Bar Awards celebrated educators who served students at Blackshear when it was a High School and as a Jr. High and Ector High School. Dr. James J. Bolton, Department Chair and Professor of PreHealth at Odessa College was the featured speaker.

Renee Earls, CEO and President of the Odessa Chamber of Commerce was honored with the Black Chamber of Commerce of the Permian Basin President’s Award for her continued support of Black Chamber of Commerce businesses and her collaborative efforts with the BCCPB and the Odessa Hispanic Chamber of Commerce in the Get Out The Vote campagin.

Odessa, Texas/November 8, 2022-The Black Chamber of Commerce of the Permian Basin held their 32nd Annual Ebony Bar Awards at the MCM Grande Hotel and Fundome. This year, Southside Clergy were recognized for their contributions to the spiritual growth of church members in the southside community.

The Ebony Bar Awards recognized: Pastor Windsor Archie of the Rose of Sharon Missionary Baptist Church, Brother Gene O. Collins of the Highland and Bunche Church of Christ, Bishop G.T. Garnett of King Solomon Missionary Baptist Chruch, Pastor E.J. Miller Sr. Of the Greater Saint John Baptist Church, Pastor Michael K. Shelton, of Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church, Reverend Charles E. Sims of Shiloh Baptist Chruch, Pastor Robert Templeton of Mount Olive Baptist Chruch and Pastor Darren Willis of Bethlehem Baptist Church.

The Black Chamber of Commerce of the Permian Basin Ebony Bar Awards featured guest speaker, Miller Bargeron, Jr. From Savanah, Georgia. Mr. Bargeron is a filmmaker, Mindset Intergration Specialist, Motivational Speaker and Author. His current film “Stubborn as a Mule” is an award-winning documentary available on YouTube. Earlier this year he began production on Odessa’s own internationally known doo wop group “The Velvets” documentary.

Odessa, Texas/November14, 2021-The Black Chamber of Commerce of the Permian Basin held its 31st Annual Ebony Bar Awards on Saturday, November 13th at the Odessa Country Club honoring Dr. Gregory D. Williams, Odessa College president.

The BCCPB presented a special award to the former Black Chamber of Commerce of the Permian Basin president, Odel Crawford for his contributions to the chamber and to small businesses in the community, other awards were presented to Beulah Mae Sims-Hutchison, Wanda Clayton and Arturo Carrasco.
