Odessa Police Department’s 5th Annual Back to School Bash and Backpack Giveaway

Odessa, Texas/August 5, 2024-The Odessa Police Department held their 5th Annual Back to School Bash at Sherwood Park hundreds of people came to the free family event. 500 backpacks filled with school supplies were handed out as well as raffle items for school-age kids.

Parents with their children were able to get free hot dogs, chips and drinks. City departments provided guests with goodie bags and giveaways.

Councilman, District 1 Mark Matta Holds Re-Election Campaign Kickoff

Odessa, Texas/August 4, 2024-Mark Matta, Odessa City Councilman, District 1 held his campaign kickoff and announced his re-election bid to an enthusiastic crowd of supporters, family and friends t MKA Special Occasions on south Grant Ave. If re-elected, councilman Matta’s goal is to beautify District 1 and increase economic development.

Councilman Matta hopes to win re-election to move the sports complex forward with a groundbreaking ceremony in late August.

The Odessa Police Department and 1st Responders are having the annual Back to School Block Party this Saturday, August 3rd, at Sherwood Park from 10am to 2pm. Visitors to the event will enjoy food, drinks and games.

OXY and the Ellen Noel Art Museum Provide Art 2 Go Supplies to the Wilkerson Boys and Girls Club

Odessa, Texas/July 29, 2024-OXY Occidental in partnership with the Ellen Noel Art Museum recently held a special presentation at the Wilkerson Boys and Girls Club in Odessa. Oxy is the title sponsor of the ART 2 GO program, supporting and expanding to over 33 school Districts including ECISD and MISD.

Panda Express Opens Panda Cares Center of Hope at Woodson Boys and Girls Club in Odessa

Odessa, Texas/July 27, 2024-The Woodson Boys and Girls Club in Odessa recently held a grand opening of the Panda Cares Center of Hope. The Boys and Girls Club of the Permian Basin applied for a $45 Thousand Dollar grant that was used to transform two learning spaces at the Boys and Girls Club in the southside of Odessa.

A prerequisite for qualifying for a Panda Cares Center of Hope is the proximity to a local Panda Express.

Panda Express has partnered with the Boys and Girls Clubs beginning in 1999. Funding for Panda Express community outreach programs comes from guests willing to donate money to the fund.
