Odessa, Texas/February 5, 2025-The Ector County Commissioners engaged in a workshop focused on the design of the proposed new Ector County Courthouse building project, that will be located downtown between 2nd & 3rd Streets on Texas Street and also East of Texas Street.

Design Build Services and Specifications along with Parker-Hill presented information to the Ector County Judge, Dustin Fawcett and the Ector County Commissioners on the building infrastructure including offices, courtrooms and estimated project costs of the Courthouse building project

Prior to the workshop session, an agenda item that the Ector County 

Commissioners Court addressed in Executive Session then voted on unanimously in public session was the termination of the Ector County Human Resources Director Roger Primera.

Odessa, Texas/March 17, 2024-On Tuesday, March 12th during the regularly scheduled meeting of the Ector County Commissioners, the court approved the donation of plant seeds to Michelle Lee Spinks who is volunteering her time to help revitalize Kellus-Turner Park in west Ector County.

The Commissioners Court also approved the appointment of former Midland Public Library Director, and the current Executive Director of the Literacy Coalition of the Permian Basin John Trischitti to the Ector County Library board.

During the Ector County 

Commissioners meeting the agenda item regarding maintenance issues with the old elevators at the Ector County Courthouse was tabled, even though there are safety concerns where visitors using the elevators could get trapped inside.

Odessa, Texas/November 19, 2023-On Thursday, November 16th, during a regular scheduled meeting of the Ector County Commissioners, residents of West Odessa presented a petition of around four-hundred signatures to the Commissioners Court prior to t Executive Session. The petition was very broad in scope and contained no specific issues to be remedied.

West Odessa residents’ complaint that ECUD officials that include former Ector County Judge Debbie Hays, who is currently the General Manager for the Ector County Utility District violate the taxing entity’s Open Meeting Act and violate their Bi-Laws.

Shirley Jo Kelley, a resident of West Odessa started attending ECUD meetings over a year ago and had high hopes that things would get better.

West Odessa has a large and growing Hispanic population. Sylvia Garcia wants to see more diversity on the ECUD Board.

The Ector County Utility District was formed in 1976 under the mandate of the Ector County Commissioners Court of that year.
