Odessa City Council & Mayor Travel Policy in Question-DRB Media Communications Digital News

Odessa, Texas/September 11, 2022-During the latest City Council work study session, Councilman District 2 Steve Thompson and Councilmember District 5 Mari Wills had an item on the works study session agenda, regarding the “travel policy.” Council member Wills was not present at the City Council work session leaving Councilman Thompson to question Mayor Javier Joven on resent trips the Mayor took on behalf of the City of Odessa.

The City of Odessa Travel Policy was established in 1996 and crafted at that time in part by councilman Javier Joven to allow the Odessa Mayor and members of the city council to travel to conduct business and/or necessities for the benefit of the City of Odessa.

If the current Odessa City Council want to change the travel policy and be informed of what the Mayor’s office is doing in regards to travel Mayor Joven suggest it should be done in an open meeting.

Mayor Javier Joven has been actively meeting with companies and legitament businesses to develop the southeast area of Odessa, and also from Grant Ave towards the west of the City of Odessa.
