Odessa, Texas/May 7, 2022-Southside Odessa celebrated its’s annual Cinco De Mayo Parade along with several organizations participated in the parade. Political candidates took the opportunity to campaign during the Cinco De Mayo Parade event.

The parade started at South Grant Avenue and E. Murphy down to Clements to the MCH Clinic across from Ector Middle School. The parade featured a youth dance team, low riders, motorcycle clubs, exotic cars and horses with their riders carring the United States flag and Mexico flag.

Cinco De Mayo commemorates the anniversary of Mexico’s victory over the French Empire at the Battle of Puebla in 1862.

Odessa, Texas/May 6, 2022-The Boxing Showcase and Gorilla Heavy Hitters held their next fight press conference at Twin Peaks in Odessa. The boxing showcase will feature several local boxers and boxers from Mexico.

Several of the local boxers featured on the card revealed how they are preparing for the upcoming fight on Saturday, May 14th at La Hacienda Event Center.

The fight will be available on several pay per view services domestically and internationally. At this time there is no scheduled local market black out or embargo on the Boxing Showcase event.

Odessa, Texas/May 5, 2022-The West Texas WARBIRDS hosted motivational speaker, Tiki Davis at the Ector County Coliseum. Davis spoke to the team on maintaining a positive attitude throughout the week before game day.

Tiki Davis emphasized to the players with the West Texas Warbirds the importance of higher learning, while still having the opportunity to play professional football.

Odessa, Texas/May 4, 2022-Odessa Police Academy 24 held traffic control training at the intersection of Grant Street and 3rd Street. Recruits took turns directing traffic under the supervision of veteran Odessa Police officers.

Recruits practiced eye and hand coordination during heavy traffic. The recruits of OPA 24 will soon engage in professional driving and firearm training.

MIKE GARDNER, ECTOR COUNTY COMMISSIONER, PRECINCT 1 RECENTLY HELD A TOWN HALL MEETING AT KELLUS-TURNER PARK COMMUNITY BUILDING, WHERE RESIDENTS VOICED THEIR OPPOSITION TO THE CONSTITUTION OF A NEW HIGH SCHOOL IN THE BELLS-PARK RANCH AREA.

Odessa, Texas/May 1, 2022-Odessa Christian School held their yearly fundraising event on Saturday, April 30th called “Christian Shenanigans” at Jim Parker Park.
