Ector County ISD Police Department Annual Blue Santa Event

Odessa, Texas/December 21, 2023-Ector County ISD recently held their annual Blue Santa event. Gifts were purchased and collected around the beginning of the Holiday Season just after Thanksgiving. Several families were selected by the ECISD Outreach Center.

All 10 children of the Reese Family received gifts from ECISD Police, and the family is looking forward to a wonderful Christmas.

Ector County ISD Annual State of the District Event

Odessa, Texas/March 3, 2023-On Thursday, March 2nd, Ector County ISD hosted the annual State of the District. The presentation featured the significant progress made on multiple strategic plan initiatives presented by Dr. Scott Muri, Superintendent of Schools at ECISD.

The Ector County ISD’s school board spent more than a year working with school district employees, business leaders, and community members developing a strategic plan. In year three the plan led to several improvements like ECISD rated a “B” by the Texas Education Agency, overall academic growth and more.

Odessa College Hosts Annual Praise and Fashion Show-Black History Month

Odessa, Texas/February 21, 2023-Mary’s Fashions annual Praise and Fashion Show part of Black History Month hosted by Odessa College featured OC faculty and students as well as students from ECISD modeling hats, pant suits, African wear and fashions for going to church.

Odessa College has been hosting Praise and Fashion Show for about 15 years. This event brings together the Odessa community for a preview of the variety of clothing Mary’s Fashions offers at the store.

Odessa, Texas/January 16, 2023-The Black Cultural Council of Odessa and the Black Chamber of Commerce of the Permian Basin held the annual celebration of Martin Luther King, Jr.

The remembrance featured a breakfast and speeches at the Woodson Park Community Center and a march that started at the Salvador Guerrero Southside Senior Activity Center. Officials with Ector County ISD and the board of trustees, football players from Permian High School and State Representative, District 81, Brooks Landgraf, his wife Shelby Landgraf and their daughter participated in the march that ended at the Woodson Activity Center.

Savanah Morales was recognized at the MLK remembrance for her assistance with the Black Cultural Council of Odessa and southside church events.

Odessa, Texas/July 4, 2022-The 4th of July Weekend kicked off with the much-awaited FIRECRACKER FANDANGO 2022. Vendors of all types offered a wide selection of items and foods, kids enjoyed events that included jumpers and games, and a petting zoo, as well as a car show and car show competition.

A large crowd gathered at the main stage as Tommy Tarango entertained visitors during the early evening hours followed by Texas Music Artist Rick Trevino.

The popular SIDE BAR & GRILL located in downtown Odessa, provided entertainment for guests and attendees at the Fandango.

Odessa, Texas/June 2, 2022-Ector County ISD and Odessa Arts celebrated the 100 years of ECISD with the dedication of a new mural by Koda Witsken at the Ector County ISD Development Center at the corner of 10th and Golder.

Officials with the City of Odessa and City Council as well as ECISD school board representatives and members of the Odessa Chamber of Commerce attended the ribbon cutting ceremony.

The mural is described as a representation of ECISD’s past and present and of the district’s belief that “Our Students are Our Future.

The mural colors have a 25 to 30-year lifespan and is coated to protect the mural from extreme West Texas weather and Graffiti.

The location of the mural was chosen by committee that included members of the ECISD school district and Randy Ham, Executive Director of Odessa Arts.
