1st Annual Cereal Box Challege at Ireland Elementary Ector County ISD Benefiting The West Texas Food Bank

Odessa, Texas/November 20, 2022-Ireland Elementary held its 1st Annual Cereal Box Challenge benefiting the West Texas Food Bank. Staff and students brought in unopened boxes of cereal to help feed families in the counties that the West Texas Food Bank serves.

West Texas Caroling Group Perform for Charity-DRB Media Communications Digital News

Odessa, Texas/November 19, 2022-Voces Dei performed Christmas Carols at the Basin Abstract & Title Christmas Party at the Odessa Country Club. This performance Kicked off the Christmas Season and raised money for a local non-profit organization.

Voces Dei was founded in 1989 and consists of 30 local volunteer singers. The vocal group perform Christmas Carols and raise money each year for the group’s chosen charity.

Representative Brooks Landgraf Town Hall Meeting and Intoduction of Painter/Artist Tabata Ayup

Odessa, Texas/November 19, 2022-State Representative District 81, Brooks Landgraf recently held a Town Hall Meeting at La Margarita Mexican Food Restaurant in Odessa. Representative Landgraf presented several different topics that included Border Security, School Secuity and the upcoming Legislative Session. Representative Landgraf talked about his filing of HB 33 the Texas Energy Independence Act.

Jobs Not Jail Presentation at OC & Odessa College 15th Annual OC Honors Featuring Father Greg Boyle

Odessa, Texas/November 18, 2022-Odessa College recently presented “Jobs Not Jail: The Teachings of Father Greg Boyle. This one-time presentation was held at the OC Sports Center. Father Boyle provided information on life skills, jobs and hope to former gang members and ex-felons through the Homeboy Industries.

Father Boyle witnessed the devastating impact of gang violence on his community during the so-called “Decade of Death” that began in the late 1980s and peaked in 1992. Father Boyle his parish and community members adopted what was a radical approach at the time: treat gang members as human beings.

ECISD 2nd Graders Get New Bikes Courtesy of OXY, Wish for Wheels-DRB Media Communications Digital News

Odessa, Texas/November 16, 2022-On Tuesday, November 15th, parents of 2nd graders at Camerson Elementary gathered at the school in anticipation for a very special surprise. A group of Occidental Petroleum-OXY employees in partnership with Wish for Wheels, a non-profit organization based in Denver, Colorado, delivered bikes to the 2nd grade level students.

The administration at Cameron Elementary were notified this past summer of the bike give-away to the 2nd grade students.

One parent had planned to buy a bike for her son for Christmas.

Volunteers fitted each student with a helmet, and made sure that the bike was properly adjusted for them. Students who have never ridden a bike, were given a quick riding lesson.
