UT Permian Basin Veterans Day Celebrations & Recognition

Odessa, Texas/November 10, 2024-The University of Texas of the Permian held the annual Veterans Day Celebration and Recognition. The event featured the posting of the colors by Odessa Fire Rescue, The Star Spangled Banner sung by Tabitha Jones.

The UT Permian Band performed the Armed Forces Medley: THE CAISSONS GO ROLLING ALONG, THE MARINE CORPS HYMN, ANCHORS AWAY, THE U.S. AIRFORCE, and SEMPER PARATUS.

UTPB Public Leadership Forum

Odessa, Texas/October 25, 2024-The University of Texas Permian Basin held the UTPB’s Shepperd Leadership Institute and Career Services for a Public Forum. The event featured local and elected officials including State Representative Brooks Landgraf along with UTPB students and staff.

BRIGHT STAR MEMORIAL DEDICATION CEREMONY

Odessa, Texas/September 2, 2024-On Thursday, August 29th, a special dedication ceremony of the Bright Star Memborial was held at the UTPB Sports Fields on the UT Permian Basin Campus in honor of the August 31st, 2019 shooting victims.

Earlier in the week, The Odessa Parks and Recreation Department placed the Yellow Flags with the names of the victims of the August 31st 2019 shooting and the Odessa Strong banner at Memorial Gardens.

UT Permian Basin & Midland College Partner to Strengthen Future Educators

On Tuesday, May 7th the University of Texas Permian Basin and Midland College signed an agreement establishing an Education Pathway. 

This partnership will address the growing need for teachers in the region.

The MC to UTPB Education Pathway allows students to earn their associate degree at Midland College and then seamlessly transfer to the University of Texas Permian Basin to earn their Bachelor of Arts in Education

Odessa College and the UT Permian Basin Recognized as Steinway Spirio Institutions

Odessa-Midland, Texas/April 14, 2024-Odessa College recently hosted representatives from Steinway and Sons during a special recognition ceremony at the college. OC is recognized as one of only a few institutions in the U.S. to earn the distinction as an “All-Steinway Spirio Institution.

The Steinway Spirio demonstration included a collaboration with New York pianist Michael Cabe, who performed live from New York City.

The Steinway Spirio presentation also featured an Odessa College music faculty member, and an OC music student who performed an excerpt from Waltz in C sharp minor by Chopin. 

The University of Texas of the Permian is also recognized as an All-Steinway Spirio Institution. UTPB became an All-Steinway Spirio school in 2012 and acquired three pianos in 2022.

UT Permian Basin Hosts Its 50-Year Anniversary Kickoff Pep Rally Celebration

Odessa, Texas/October 24, 2023-The University of Texas of the Permian Basin held its 50-year anniversary kick-off pep rally celebration. Officials with UTPB are excited to host several upcoming events and invite the community to participate in the celebration.
