Odessa, Texas/February 13, 2022-The Gaven Norris Law Office recently hosted a “meet the candidates forum” at the Woodson Park Community Center. 

The forum focused on the candidates running for Ector County Justice of the Peace Precinct 4 and Ector County Commissioner Precinct 4. 

The incumbent, Ector County Commissioner Precinct 4, Armando Rodriguez did not attend the forum, giving more time to Savannah Morales, a candidate for Ector County Commissioner Precinct 4 to present her goals to the residents attending the forum.

Ector County Justice of the Peace, Precinct 4 featured the three candidates running for the open seat: Jesse Porras, Alford Littleton, and Elizabeth Baeza, a deputy with the Ector County Sheriff’s Office, in the Civil Division with the most experience.

32-year-old Luke Warford is a Democratic candidate running for Texas Railroad Commission, outlined his platform that included the Texas Power Grid.

Luke Warford addressed the earthquakes that are occurring around the Permian Basin, causing concern with residents.

Odessa, Texas/February 10, 2022-Medical Center Hospital NICU launched the Angel Eye Camera System, whick will allow parents to monitor their baby in real-time when they can’t be at the hospital. The Angel Eye allows for a continual video feed from the baby’s isolette/crib through a protected password.

The Angel Eye camera system allows nurses to send parents vital information about their baby thru text messaging.

Medical Center Hospital spent 40 thousand dollars for 15 cameras, which includes software upgrades. The funds were made available through a grant from the ACE Hardware Foundation-Helping Hand Grant Program.

Odessa, Texas/February 8, 2022-The Texas High School Coaches Association recently announced that Permian High School was named one of the State Finalists of Texas for the 2021-2022 National Football Foundation National High School Academic Excellence Award. This award is the first nationwide recognition honoring individual high school teams for excellence in the classroom with a 3.0 or abouve grade point average.

Odessa, Texas/February 7, 2022-On Saturday, February 5th, the University of Texas of the Permian Basin college of Engineering hosted the 2022 Robotics South League Championship. 38 teams and over 200 attendees that included students, instructor, parents watched the all-day competition.

Odessa, Texas/February 7, 2022-The West Texas Food Bank is currently inviting the community to join the volunteer workforce. Since the beginning of the pandemic, the West Texas Food Bank in the interest of community safety has not been open for regular volunteer opportunities.
