ECISD kicks off Red Ribbon Week Celebration Monday #drugfree #redribbon #students

Odessa, Texas/October 27, 2025-Ector County ISD kicked off Red Ribbon Week on Monday, October 27th at the ECISD Administration parking lot. Odessa Mayor Cal Hendrick read a City Proclamation to start a week of the School Districts activities.

Red Ribbon Week is part of ECISD’s commitment promoting a drug-free lifestyle and preventing substance abuse among students and residents in the community.

Red Ribbon Week underscores the importance of educating youth in making healthy choices. Red Ribbon Week is a national campaign inspired by DEA Agent Enrique “Kiki” Camarena Salazar who was brutally tortured and murdered in Mexico.  (Jeff Daniels, Chief of Police-Ector County ISD Police Department) 

The Red Ribbon kick off finale featured a ribbon cutting ceremony by the Odessa Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors and the Odessa High School Dance Team and the OHS Drumline.

Ector County Library Hosts a Free Halloween Community Event #halloween #familyfun #sweettreats

Odessa, Texas/October 20,2025-This is DRB Media Communications Digital News. This past Saturday, the Ector County Library held a community Trick or Treat event. Danny Barrera has the story. 

Families packed the Ector County Library parking lot for the annual Halloween Community Event. Kids, teens, and even a few parents showed off their favorite costumes while lining up for sweet treats.

Visitors to the event had the opportunity to purchase food items from local food trucks and visit with nonprofit organizations. Ector County ISD and the IDEA Public Schools were at the Noel Heritage Plaza a Park located next the library provided information to parents.

During the Halloween Community Event, the Ector County Library provided children with books to encourage reading and highlight the importance of literacy.

City of Odessa Kicks off the Fall and Holiday Season with the Annual Fall Festival

Odessa, Texas/October 22, 2025-The City of Odessa, Texas recently hosted its annual Fall Festival at McKinney Park, turning the park into a family-friendly autumn wonderland. Officers with Odessa Police Department and crews from Odessa Fire Rescue spent the day and into the evening mingling with parents and kids while proudly showing off their first responder vehicles and gear. Little ghosts, superheroes, and princesses roamed from booth to booth, scooping up sweet treats and showing off their Halloween costumes.

The Fall Festival featured a first-time car show, face painting, jumpers a circus act a lot of games and attractions.

Volunteers & Students Help the Black Chamber of Commerce of the Permian Basin Fall Cleanup

Odessa, Texas/October 21, 2025-This is DRB Media Communications Digital News. The Black Chamber of Commerce held their Fall Cleanup this past weekend. Danny Barrera has the story. 

Volunteers and Students from the ECISD Middle Schools and High Schools came out this past Saturday to help the Black Chamber of Commerce of the Permian Basin cleanup areas of southside Odessa.

During the Fall and Spring cleanups, the Black Chamber of Commerce of the Permian Basin invites volunteers and School District students to participate in helping to beautify the City of Odessa.

36th Annual Crime Stoppers Conference Hosted by the Odessa Marriott Hotel & Conference Center

Odessa, Texas/October 16, 2025-Crime Stoppers programs from across the state gather once a year in a host city selected by the state. During the annual conference, participating programs receive the mandated16 hours of training required to ensure they remain in full compliance.
