Odessa, Texas/September 21, 2022-The Odessa Chamber of Commerce recently held its annual banquet at the Odessa Marriott Hotel and Conference Center. New board members, directors and new chairman were installed.

Covid-19, the economy and other issues have caused the stall of the revitalization of downtown. The new Chairman hopes that development of downtown will start up soon.

Odessa, Texas/July 27, 2022-During the regular scheduled meeting of the Ector County Commissioner’s the court considered engaging in a real estate broker contract with J.L. Herriage/doing business as Copper Key Realty in the possible sale of the Ector County Coliseum.

The Commissioner’s Court was informed by Copper Key Realty, about 7 to 8 weeks prior to the July 26th, regularly scheduled commissioner’s court meeting.

An offer between $25 to $30 million dollars to purchase the Ector County Coliseum was made, but was turned down by the commissioner’s Court.

The World-Famous Chuck Wagon Gang and several organizations that hold events at the coliseum for decades voiced their opposition to potential sale of the venue.

The Odessa Chamber of Commerce and Discover Odessa believe that private ownership of The Ector County Coliseum can have a negative impact on future events coming to Odessa.

The Ector County Commissioner’s voted 3 to 2 to approved a broker contract with Copper Key Realty, but there is a question if there is a contract already in place to sell the Coliseum.

Odessa, Texas/June 8, 2022-The Odessa Chamber of Commerce and Medical Center Health System hosted a reception for Year 3 Texas Tech Health Science Center medical students. 25 medical students were welcomed by representatives of the Odessa Chamber of Commerce and MCH, Mayor Javier Joven, and Ector County Judge Debbie Hays.

The Odessa Chamber is the only non-political organization to host new medical students and welcome them to the Odessa community. With a growing population It is hoped that these medical students will one day return and practice medicine in Odessa.

Odessa, Texas/April 8, 2022-The Odessa Chamber of Commerce hosted the 2022 Entrepreneur of the Year and Business Hall of Fame Luncheon at the Odessa Marriott. Prior to the presentation of the Business Entrepreneur of the Year, Four Odessa Business owners were inducted into the Business Hall of Fame.

Robert M. Chavez was introduced to the members of the Odessa Chamber of Commerce, Representatives and elected officials of the City of Odessa and Ector County and guest as the 2022 Entrepreneur of the Year.

Robert M. Chavez served in the US Airforce from 1973 to 1977. He attended Eastern New Mexico University, Odessa College and UT Permian Basin. Mr. Chavez started Permian Machinery Movers with his father, Ramon Sr. In 1981 and is a current member of the Odessa Chamber of Commerce for over 25 years.

Odessa, Texas/March 8, 2022-On Tuesday, March 8th , the Odessa Chamber of Commerce hosted the SHE CAN-WOMEN’S CONFERENCE in memory of Adela Vasquez, ECISD educator and counselor. The women’s conference is scheduled to coincide with International Women’s Day.

The goal of the networking event is to encourge membership to the Young Professionals of Odessa for those professionals 21 to 40 years of age.
