The Black Chamber of Commerce of the Permian Basin Holds 2nd Annual Community Clean-Up

Odessa, Texas/April 17, 2023-The Black Chamber of Commerce of the Permian Basin along with Keep Odessa Beautiful held their 2nd Annual Community Clean-Up. Representatives and members of the BCCPB gathered at the Woodson Boys and Girls Club to begin the clean-up project.

2nd Annual Turkey Leg Tussle Domino Tournament-Black Chamber of Commerce of the Permian Basin

Odessa, Texas/November 26, 2022-The Black Chamber of Commerce of the Permian Basin, hosted the 2nd Annual Turkey Leg Tussle Domino Tournament at the Woodson Boys & Girls Club. 14 teams a total of 28 players participated in the in this competitive event, that is scheduled on the Saturday after Thanksgiving Day.

The Turkey Leg Tussle is a community event and invites domino players from the Odessa community to just come out and register to play.

The 2nd Annual Turkey Leg Tussle and the Black Chamber of Commerce of the Permian Basin is a meet & greet event to reach out to new African-American business that are making a positive impact in southside Odessa.

1st Place, 2nd Place and 3rd Place trophies were award to the teams as well as participant trophies given to the players.

Fatal Shooting in the 1100 Block of Jeter in South Odessa-DRB Media Communications Digital News

Odessa, Texas/August 24, 2022-At approximately 2:40am, Odessa Police responded to a disturbance call in the 1100 block of Jeter in South Odessa near Hays Elementary. When Officers arrived, they found a male lying in the front yard deceased from an apparent gunshot wound.  

The suspect involved in the shooting has been detained and the investigation is ongoing. 

The victim’s name has not been released pending notification of next of kin.

Odessa, Texas/August 10, 2022-The Black Chamber of Commerce of the Permian Basin hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony at the ART OF FADEZ Academy, a barbershop college, located at 1103 S. Dixie Blvd. in the heart of southside Odessa.

Odessa, Texas/May 7, 2022-Southside Odessa celebrated its’s annual Cinco De Mayo Parade along with several organizations participated in the parade. Political candidates took the opportunity to campaign during the Cinco De Mayo Parade event.

The parade started at South Grant Avenue and E. Murphy down to Clements to the MCH Clinic across from Ector Middle School. The parade featured a youth dance team, low riders, motorcycle clubs, exotic cars and horses with their riders carring the United States flag and Mexico flag.

Cinco De Mayo commemorates the anniversary of Mexico’s victory over the French Empire at the Battle of Puebla in 1862.
