UT Permian Basin & Midland College Partner to Strengthen Future Educators

On Tuesday, May 7th the University of Texas Permian Basin and Midland College signed an agreement establishing an Education Pathway. 

This partnership will address the growing need for teachers in the region.

The MC to UTPB Education Pathway allows students to earn their associate degree at Midland College and then seamlessly transfer to the University of Texas Permian Basin to earn their Bachelor of Arts in Education

Midland College holds Science Extravaganzaa for Midland ISD Elementary Students

Midland, Texas/April 29, 2024-Midland College recently hosted “Science Extravaganza” for Midland ISD Elementary students. The purpose of the science event is to get them involved, not only in math and science, but other life sciences.

Midland College will have a taskforce in the fall that will investigate Artificial Intelligence, how it will affect academia and how to teach it to the next generation of students and how to use it in a proper and ethical way.

Education Partnership of the Permian Basin Launches the Permian Basin Innovation Zone

Midland, Texas/October 19, 2023-The Education Partnership of the Permian Basin launched the Permian Basin Innovation Zone also known as PBIZ. This ground-breaking collaborative is designed to expand opportunities to Rual students in the Permian Basin.

McCamey ISD, Buena Vista ISD, Grandfalls-Royality ISD, and Crane ISD in partnership with Odessa College and Midland College will create pathways to provide high-level, high-quality education opportunities for rural students.

Two Freshman students from Buena Vista ISD described the benefits and disadvantages of being a student in a small school.

The goal of the Permian Basin Innovation Zone is to partner with rural school districts that are near each other, and by obtaining resources to provide a central location that rural students can get to for high quality education.

Midland College Holiday Evening A Free Community Event

Midland, Texas/December 6, 2022-Midland College recently hosted a free Holiday Evening at the Allison Fine Arts Building. Families and their children had the opportunity to take a photo with Santa and Mrs. Claus.

Families and guests were able to purchase a chili dinner, with proceeds benefiting the Alumni scholarships.

Midland,Texas/April 14, 2022-The Pre-K Academy at Midland College celebrated the last day of school before the Easter break with an egg hunt. The Easter Bunny came out to the Easter Egg hunt to meet the little ones.

The Pre-K Academy has a total of 68 kids, 34 3-year-olds and 34 4-year-olds, each of the age groups participated in the Easter Egg Hunt and other in-classroom activities.

Santa Claus visited sixty-eight 3 and 4 year-olds at the Pre-K Academy classrooms at Midland College. Students dressed up in their PJ’s for the special visit.
