Ector County Republican Party Holds First Responder Pancake Breakfas

The Ector County Republican Party under the leadership of Party Chair, Donna Kelm held a pancake breakfast at the ECRP Headquarters for 1st Responders that included the Ector County Sheriff’s Office, Texas Department of Public Safety and other local law enforcement agencies.

TROOPER KEVIN RAMIREZ-VASQUEZ TRIBUTE CEREMONY

Midland, Texas/October 3, 2024-On Tuesday, October 1st, a special ceremony was held at the Midland Army Airfield Museum Hanger located near Midland International Air & Space Port. Jose Sanchez, Regional Director of the Texas Department Public Safety, West Texas Region presented remarks to officers with the Texas Department of Public Safety and other Law Enforcement Officers, in honor of Trooper Kevin Ramirez-Vasquez.

Law Enforcements agencies included from the Odessa Police Department, Ector County Sheriff’s Office, Ector County ISD Police, UTPB Police, U.S. Border Patrol Midland Police Department, Midland County Sheriff’s Office, as well as law enforcement agencies from Lubbock attended the tribute ceremony.

Trooper Kevin Ramirez-Vasquez passed away from injuries he sustained during a crash on Highway 302 in Ector County. Trooper Ramirez-Vasques was investigating a car crash along with an Ector County Sheriff’s Deputy.

Odessa Chamber of Commerce 90 Year Anniversary Annual Banquet & Awards Dinner

Odessa, Texas/September 30, 2024-The Odessa Chamber of Commerce held the annual banquet and awards dinner hosted by the Odessa Marriott Hotel and Conference Center. The Odessa Chamber also celebrated its 90th anniversary.

The Democratic nominee is visiting urban counties and areas of Texas that are traditionally Republican, meeting people and asking what concerns residents and citizens have.

Voter Registration Drives in Central Odessa and in Southside Odessa

Odessa, Texas/September 29, 2024-Two voter registration events were held one in central Odessa and the other in southside Odessa. Tejas Shooting Sports hosted Julie Kellog, a Deputy Registrar, who recently moved to Odessa from the Corpus Cristi area provided information and the importance of voting.

The League of United Latin American Citizens held a voter registration drive hosted by the Silva Law Group at their location at South Grant Ave., and Clements in the heart of southside Odessa. LULAC had over 25 people filled out the necessary forms to be eligible to vote in upcoming election.

Hispanic Heritage of Odessa Celebrates the Life and Times of Salvador Guerrero

Odessa, Texas/September 22, 2024-Hispanic Heritage of Odessa and members of the local chapter of LULAC celebrated the life and times of Salvador Guererro hosted by the Ector County Library. The library featured a display of photos and memorabilia of the once community and political leader of the southside Odessa community.

Salvador Guerrero was a World War II veteran, who served in the 348th Amphibious Engineer Combat Battalion. He was painter and an author who wrote Memorias, A West Texas Life.

In the mid to late 70’s Salvador Guerrero hosted the first Mex-Tex radio show on Sunday mornings from 7am to 11am on AM1410 KRIG Radio, and was a co-host of the popular Spanish variety show Mexico-Tejano from the late 70’s to the mid 90’s. 

I know this because I was there for some of Sal’s celebrity adventures.
