City of Odessa Officials Project Graduation Press Conference

Odessa, Texas/May 22, 2024-The City of Odessa, Odessa Police Department, ECISD Police and the Ector County Sheriff’s Office held the 2024 Project Graduation press conference. Odessa City Councilwoman Denise Swanner presented a check of 500 dollars to Permian High School and 500-dollar check to Odessa High.

Odessa, Texas/March 23, 2024-The Odessa Police Department held their Burgers for Badges fundraiser event at the Whataburger located at the corner of 42nd and JBS Parkway. Burgers for Badges kicks off the annual Bustin for Badges clay shoot event.

Family Fun Day with the Ector County Sheriff’s Office at the Ector County Coliseum Barn G

Odessa, Texas/June 3, 2023-On Saturday, June 3rd, the Ector County Sheriff’s Office kicked off the summer season with Family Fun Day at Barn G at the Ector County Coliseum. Families with children enjoyed the Sheriff’s Office assault vehicles and personal hardware.

Mayor Javier Joven’s Drug and Crime Commission Project Graduation- Underage Drinking Operation

Odessa, Texas/May 24, 2023-Mayor Javier Joven’s Drug and Crime Commission spoke on the underage drinking operation for the upcoming graduation weekend. Representatives from all local law enforcement agencies were present at the press event.

The Mayor’s Drug and Crime Commission reminds parents to be responsible and not encourage underage drinking, while hosting a graduation party.

Ector County ISD Police will patrol the City of Odessa and issue any citations, which can be from a couple of hundred dollars to thousands of dollars or jail time to those that are caught underage and drinking, and parents who provide alcohol to minors.

Ector County Sheriff’s Office Investigating Deceased Body at Kent Kwik in West Odessa

 

West Odessa/Ector County/February 23, 2023-On Thursday, February 23rd at approximately 6:04am Investigators with the Ector County Sheriff’s Office responded to a deceased body found in proximity to a trash dumpster at the Kent Kwik located at West University and Roundup in West Odessa.  

A spokesperson for the Ector County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the victim was seen alive inside the Kent Kwik Convenience Store then shortly after, exited the store. It is unknown if the person was inside the dumpster or how the victim ended up with bodily injury. 

Ector County Sheriff Office officials did confirm that there was no indication of foul play. 

The Investigators processed the scene by taking measurements and taking pictures of the Republic Trash Dump truck. The West Odessa Volunteer Fire Department washed down the area where the body of the deceased person was laying. The Ector County Sheriff’s Office took possession of the Republic Trash Truck. 

It is believed that the victim was homeless. No ID was found on the deceased. 

The name of the deceased is being withheld until the next of kin is notified. 

It’s unknown if an autopsy will be requested by the Ector County Sheriff’s Office. 

The investigation is ongoing.

Ector County Sheriff’s Office Investigating Murder of 20 Year Old

Odessa, Texas/Ector County/December 20, 2022-On December 19th at approximately 5:47PM Ector County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the13000 block of Firewater Trail in reference to a gunshot victim. A 20-year-old male later identified as Jeramiah Nathaniel Padilla was transported to Medical Center Hospital with gunshot wounds and later died from his injuries.  

At approximately the same time Odessa Police Department responded to Odessa Regional Medical Center ER reference a 16-year-old gunshot victim.
