Keep Odessa Better, Business Bureau and Secured Document Shredding Hold Document Shredding Event

Odessa, Texas/May 7, 2023-On Saturday, May 6th, Keep Odessa Beautiful and The Better Business Bureau teamed up with Secured Document Shredding and invited residents of the Permian Basin out to the Odessa Recycling Center for a document shredding event.

The document shredding event helps residents with limited resources destroy documents they’ve had in storage for many years and help prevent identity theft.

All shredded documents from Saturday’s event will be taken to Butts Recyling to be recycled and keep most of the shredded documents from going to the landfill.

The Better Business Bureau plans to team up with Keep Odessa Beautiful and Secured Document Shredding for another document shredding event next quarter.

Odessa Hispanic Chamber of Commerce & Hispanic Heritage of Odessa Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at XOXO Liquor

Odessa, Texas/May 6, 2023-The Odessa Hispanic Chamber of Commerce along with Hispanic Heritage of Odessa and Ambassadors from the Odessa Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting ceremony at XOXO Liquors located at 5000 NE Loop 338 in Northeast Odessa.

Commercial properties are being developed in northeast Odessa along East Loop 338 near the Yukon Road construction project. Workers on the way home may stop at XOXO Liquors to pick up alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages and other items.

Hispanic Heritage of Odessa has teamed up with the Odessa Hispanic Chamber of Commerce to recognize and celebrate new Hispanic businesses especially those that are owned and operated by Hispanic women.

The Greater Odessa Rotary Club Donates Address Markers to Meals on Wheels of Odessa

Odessa, Texas/May 3, 2023-On Wednesday, May 3rd, The Greater Odessa Rotary Club donated address markers to Meals on Wheels. The brightly painted blocks will help Meals on Wheels of Odessa drivers locate clients, at unmarked residential addresses.

The red blocks with white address numbers will also help Odessa Fire Rescue and local law enforcement in locating the trouble areas quicker, especially in West Odessa.

Meals on Wheels of Odessa currently serves about 666 homebound seniors and disabled clients throughout the city of Odessa, West Odessa and Ector County. Most areas in the city of Odessa don’t have visible address numbers making it difficult for drivers to locate the client’s homes.

Odessa Hispanic Chamber of Commerce First Annual Cinco De Mayo Kickoff Celebration

Odessa, Texas/May 1, 2023-The Odessa Hispanic Chamber of Commerce held their first annual CINCO DE MAYO Kickoff event at La Margarita fairgrounds on Saturday evening, April 29th. Several hundred visitors enjoyed the various food trucks and vendors at the event.

The CINCO DE MAYO Kickoff is the Odessa Hispanic Chamber of Commerce first major fundraising event, that included mariachis and K-POP style dancing. Several non-profit organizations were on the fairgrounds providing information on services they provide

Several small businesses supported the Kickoff event by selling merchandise and tasty food products like Salsas and other tasty treats as well as Sam’s Brittle Creations, a family-owned business.

Permian Basin Behavioral Health Center Groundbreaking Ceremony at the Wagner Noel Performing Arts Center

Midland, Texas/April 30, 2023-On Friday, April 28th, The Texas Facilities Commission, Midland Health and Medical Center Health System along with Texas State Senator Kevin Sparks, District 31, Shelby Landgraf representing the office of State Representative Brooks Landgraf, District 81 and former State House Speaker-current State Representative Tom Craddick, District 82 joined members of the law enforcement community and invited guests to the groundbreaking ceremony of the Permian Basin Behavioral Health Center. Due to poor weather conditions the special event was moved to the recital hall inside the Wagner-Noel Performing Arts Center.

Project representatives appropriated $40 million in funding during a special State Legislative session in 2020. The additional funding will be raised from private donations from Midland and Odessa. Land for the project was donated by Diamondback Energy but will retain the mineral rights. The original cost of the project was more than $80 million due to rising construction costs.

The Midland County Sheriff’s Office and the Ector County Sheriff’s Office are the only agencies that provide mental health care to inmates. The Permian Basin Behavioral Health Center will be a much-needed facility to help law enforcement ease the burden on the costs of travel time and the safety of law enforcement officers having to transport inmate/patients out of the county to a mental health facility.

Ector County Republican Women’s Club Hold All Red, White and Blue Mixer Event

Odessa, Texas/April 29, 2023-The Ector County Republican Women’s Club held a community outreach mixer at Homemade Wines in downtown Odessa. The membership welcomed guests and visitors to the All Things Red, White and Blue event.
