MIDLAND, TEXAS/NOVEMBER 10, 2021-THE MIDLAND COUNTY DRUG GOURT HELD THE THIRD SESSION OF THE 2021 ADULT FELONY DRUG COURT GRADUATION ON MONDAY, NOVEMBER 8TH. THE MIDLAND DRUG COURT WAS ESTABLISHED IN 2018 BY MIDLAND COUNTY TO SERVE THE NEEDS OF INDIVIDUALS CHARGED WITH CRIMES RELATED TO SUBSTANCE ABUSE DISORDERS.

THE ADULT FELONY DRUG COURT IS A 14 MONTH MINIMUM PROGRAM FOCUSING ON HIGH-RISK HIGH-NEED SUBSTANCE ADDICTED OFFENDERS WHO HAVE PREVIOUSLY FAILED A TYPICAL PROBATION AND FOCUSES ON REHABILITATION.

CRYSTAL OCHOA, A GRADUATE OF THE ADULT FELONY DRUG COURT, BEGAN USING HARD DRUGS, STEALING VEHICLES AND OTHER CRIMES,  HAD BEEN ARRESTED SEVERAL TIMES WITHIN A SPECIFIC YEAR. IT WAS WHILE IN JAIL SHE HEARD OF THE ADULT FELONY DRUG COURT PROGRAM

DRB MEDIA COMMUNICATIONS DIGITAL NEWS(110321)OPD UNVEILS THE NEW ODESSA POLICE TRAINING CENTER

Odessa, Texas/November 3, 2021-The Odessa Police Department unveiled the new Odessa Police Training Facility located directly behind the police station. This newly repurposed facility was the original Odessa Central Fire Station.

The conversion from the old central fire station to the new Odessa Police Department Training center took approximately 8 to 9 years to complete. Early on, a segment of the building was constructed as a multiple OPD specialty vehicles storage facility.

The Odessa Police Department Training Center has offices, various classrooms for continuous training and the VirTra, a virtual reality training simulator for veteran police officers and recruits attending the Odessa Police Academy.

TAG: The Odessa Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting ceremony, prior to a tour of the center. The Odessa Police Department Training Center will be available to law enforcement agencies from surrounding counties and municipalities for high end police training.

DRB MEDIA COMMUNICATIONS DIGITAL NEWS(110121A)-OPD INVESTIGATING HOMICIDE 2 SUSPECTS ARRESTED-UPDATE

Odessa, Texas/November 1, 2021-Two suspects have been arrested and charged with murder in connection with the shooting that occurred on Sunday morning, October 31st, at approximately 1:32 am.

Officers with the Odessa Police Department responded to a shots fired call in the parking lot of 4555 East University Blvd. The investigation revealed that the victim, 53-year-old Jesse Sanchez was a patron at the Agave Bar. Sanchez had exited the bar and walked to his vehicle when multiple shots were fired at him.

Jesse Sanchez was transported to Medical Center Hospital where he pronounced deceased.

The suspects then exited the parking lot and was pursued by Odessa Police with the assistance of the Ector County Sheriff’s Office. The pursuit ended in the area of West Cananero Court. The suspects were taken into custody after a brief foot pursuit.

The two suspects Martin Monge Hernandez, 19-years-of-age was charged with Murder, Felony, 1st Degree and Evading Arrest or Detention with a Vehicle, Felony, 3rd Degree.

Cristian Escarcega, 24-years-of-age was charged with Murder, Felony 1st Degree, and Evading Arrest or Detention, Class A misdemeanor.

Midland, Texas/November 1, 2021-The Midland County Sheriff’s Office held its 2nd annual Halloween Drive-In Movie Bash Saturday, October 30th. Over 2 thousand people came out to the Big Sky Drive-In for double feature movies on three screen.

Odessa, Texas/October 27, 2021-The Odessa Chamber of Commerce held their 2020-2021 banquet and awards ceremony Tuesday evening, October 26th at the Odessa Marriot Hotel and Convention Center.

This event celebrates the accomplishment of the past fiscal year and recognizes the volunteers that help make these accomplishments possible.
