Odessa, Texas/April 25, 2022-The Odessa Family YMCA is hosting HEALTHY KIDS DAY on Saturday, April 30th. This is a free community event for the entire family.

The HEALTHY KIDS DAY event will feature jumpers and bouncer, an obstacle course, face painting and other fun activities for kids. Chick-fil-a will be providing lunch during the event.

Odessa, Texas/April 24, 2022-Keep Odessa Beautiful and the Black Chamber of Commerce Permian Basin along with the Woodson Boys and Girls Club held a community clean-up at Woodson Park and within the surrounding neighborhoods. The City of Odessa also provided a bulky item drop off located in the parking lot at Woodson Park.

The Black Chamber of Commerce Permian Basin and Clayton Homes had volunteers picking up trash and plastic grocery bags within the large vacant lot located in the area of Pool Road and South Dixie near IH-20.

DRB MEDIA COMMUNICATIONS DIGITAL NEWS(042322)-UNITED WAY ODESSA & VOLUNTEERS AT ODESSA LINKS AND ODESSA DAY NURSERY

Odessa, Texas/April 23, 2022-The United Way of Odessa and volunteers from the community came together Saturday morning, April 23rd to provide a service to two partner agencies- Odessa Links and Odessa Day Nursery.

Volunteers began painting the walls of the Odessa Links office and other tools were used at Odessa Day Nursery. Supplies and other items were provided by several sponsors.

Several BEST BUY of Odessa employees volunteered at Odessa Day Nursery by raking sand boxes and helping in offices and classrooms. Other volunteers cut and trimmed tree limbs.

DRB MEDIA COMMUNICATIONS DIGITAL NEWS(042222)-ODESSA FAMILY YMCA TO OPEN HYGIENE CLOSET

Odessa, Texas/April 22, 2022-The Odessa Family YMCA and Superior HealthPlan announced a partnership between both organizations in opening a HYGIENE CLOSET for the community. This closet will be open to the public on the first Friday of every month, beginning May 6th. Following the presentation, a ribbon cutting ceremony was held with representatives of the Odessa Family YMCA and Superior HealthPlan

The $5 thousand dollar grant provides basic hygiene products for families and individuals such as: deodorant, shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrushes and other items, as well laundry soap and cleaning supplies. These items will be stocked in the hygiene closet located inside the Odessa Family YMCA.

Odessa, Texas/April 21, 2022-The Ector County Republic Women Club held their monthly meeting and luncheon for members and guest. The event feature guest speaker, Jeff Hunt, Director of the Centennial institute at Colorado Christian University.

Jeff Hunt earned his bachelor of arts degree at Westmont College, master of divinity from Fuller Theological Seminary, and master of political management at George Washington University. Education was the principal topic at the ECRW meeting and luncheon.

DRB MEDIA COMMUNICATIONS DIGITAL NEWS(042122)-STRUCTURE FIRE AT VIKING POOLS IN MIDLAND COUNTY

Midland County, Texas/April 21, 2022-On Wednesday, April 20th, at approximately 7:45 pm a fire was reported at Viking Pools after the last employee of the business locked the gate. The business is located in the area of 1788 in Midland County. 

It is undetermined what caused the fire. At this time, Investigators believe that the fire was accidental and not arson. 

Odessa Fire-Rescue, Odessa Police Department and other first responder agencies assisted the Midland Fire Department, Midland Police Department and Sheriff’s Office in an effort to contain the blaze and traffic control. 

The blaze was extinguished at approximately 1:30 am. 

The business is currently closed, and the investigation continues.
