Odessa Police Department, Odessa Fire Rescue, Ector County Sheriff’s Office, The Ector County DA’s Office, Texas Department of Public Safety and other local law enforcement agencies enjoyed breakfast and fellowship.

Homicide Investigation at the 1600 Block of Ridgecrest in Odessa, Texas

Odessa, Texas/September 8, 2023-On Wednesday evening at around 9:29pm the Odessa Police Department began investigating a murder in the 1600 Block of Ridgecrest. 

The victim and the actor were deceased. They were identified as Kristina Alvarado, 36 years-of-age, and William Silva, 43 years of age. They were pronounced deceased by medical staff. Next of kin were notified. 

The investigation continues.

ECISD Announces Registered Apprenticeship Program for Teachers

Odessa, Texas/September 5, 2023-Ector County ISD announced the approval of the Registered Apprenticeship Program for Teachers through the U.S. Department of Labor. This apprenticeship program works in conjunction with already established teacher development pipelines like: Future Teachers of Odessa, Odessa Pathway to Teaching and OC2UTPB Teach in 3.

A significant benefit of the Apprenticeship Program for Teachers, tuition and fees associated with earning a bachelor’s degree will be covered, and apprentices will earn a paycheck while working in the school district.

Ector County ISD continues to partner with Odessa College and the University of Texas of the Permian Basin in finding solutions to the teacher shortage issue at ECISD.

Odessa Family YMCA Food Drive and The Walk To End Alzheimer’s

Odessa, Texas/September 2, 2023-The Odessa Family YMCA currently has a food drive going on to benefit the food pantry at the Permian Basin Mission Center. Residents can bring in a wide selection of non-perishable items and drop them off in the container in the lobby area of the Y.

The Kent Companies Celebrate the 89th Convenience Store with a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

Odessa, Texas/August 29, 2023-The Kent Companies celebrated their 89th Kent Kwik convenience store located at West 8th Street and West Loop 338 in Odessa with a ribbon-cutting ceremony presented by the Odessa Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors. The West 8th Street convenience store is the new model for future Kent Kwik stores.
