Odessa, Texas/October 31, 2025- This is DRB MEDIA COMMUNICATIONS DIGITAL NEWS. Odessa Fire Rescue and the Odessa Police Department held their annual Trunk or Treat event. Danny Barrera Has the story.  

Odessa Fire Rescue and the Odessa Police Department held their annual Trunk or Treat event at the Central Fire Station. Mom and Dad’s brought their little ones to get candy from fire fighters and from OPD Officers.

The Odessa Fire Rescue and Odessa Police Department Trunk or Treat event is for pre-school and Daycare children and those little ones not yet in school. This family fun event is a great way to bring first responders and the community together.

911 Public Safety Communications, and Medical Center Health Systems participated in the Trunk or Treat event handing out treats and information to parents.

Ector County Library Hosts a Free Halloween Community Event #halloween #familyfun #sweettreats

Odessa, Texas/October 20,2025-This is DRB Media Communications Digital News. This past Saturday, the Ector County Library held a community Trick or Treat event. Danny Barrera has the story. 

Families packed the Ector County Library parking lot for the annual Halloween Community Event. Kids, teens, and even a few parents showed off their favorite costumes while lining up for sweet treats.

Visitors to the event had the opportunity to purchase food items from local food trucks and visit with nonprofit organizations. Ector County ISD and the IDEA Public Schools were at the Noel Heritage Plaza a Park located next the library provided information to parents.

During the Halloween Community Event, the Ector County Library provided children with books to encourage reading and highlight the importance of literacy.

University of Texas Permian Basin Kite Fest 2025

Odessa, Texas/April 21, 2025-The University of Texas Permian Basin recently held Kite Fest 2025 at the Basin Sports Complex. Families and children flew their kites of all shapes and sizes, UTPB also provided free kites and gliders to visitors to the event.

UTPB students who are also members of the Student Government Association provided volunteer services to attendees and gave out information to guests on academic programs the University of Texas Permian Basin offers.

Families with their children enjoyed the sunny Saturday skies and a kite flying breeze.

The UTPB Kite Fest 2025 featured a wide variety of vendors from food trucks to jewelry to cups.

City of Odessa Holds Annual Easter Egg Hunt at Sherwood Park

Odessa, Texas/March 30, 2024-The City of Odessa hosted the Annual Easter Egg Hunt Saturday morning at Sherwood Park. Families visited vendors, food trucks and local Hispanic radio stations, getting candy and other goodies, while enjoying the spring weather.

Kids enjoyed coloring inside the big tent and took pictures with several mascots; Mom’s and Dad’s waited in line to take a picture with the Easter Bunny.

The City of Odessa passed an ordinance a while back, enforcing Sherwood Park as an open space and available to everyone. Parents and kids were flying kites and cooking out.

The city of Odessa hopes to add more games, fun events and other entertainment at next year’s Easter Egg Hunt.

National Night Out 2023-First Presbyterian Church/Iglesia De Amor Church

Odessa, Texas/September 5, 2023-Several churches, neighborhoods, apartment complexes and organizations celebrated the 2023 National Night Out on Tuesday, September 3rd despite the early afternoon stormy weather. 

The Odessa Police Department and Odessa Fire Rescue visited with residents at The First Presbyterian Church located at 1401 N. Sam Houston Ave.

Residents who live around or near the Church enjoyed Hot Dogs, Chips and Drinks. Kids got to see the first responder vehicles up-close.

Iglesia de Amor Church on 1609 W. 10th, hosted National Night at the storefront church location. Hispanic residents who live near the church came out to see the Crime Scene Mobile Lab, OPD Units and the Odessa Fire Rescue Fire Trucks and Ambulance.
