DRB MEDIA COMMUNICATIONS DIGITAL NEWS(040722)-ECSO, ATF AND FBI OFFICIALS INVESTIGATE BOMB THREAT

Odessa, Texas/April 7, 2022-At approximately 7:45am, an employee with the Ector County Sheriff’s Office discovered a devise that resembled a pipe bomb, somewhere near the west entrance of the Ector County Courthouse. The employee advised courthouse security of the discovery of the devise and possible threat.

Several rumors surfaced that a cartel was responsible for the bomb threat. There are criminal trials currently scheduled at the Ector County Courthouse.

The ATF, FBI and Texas Rangers are on the ground working with the Ector County Sheriff’s Office reviewing video from cameras located at the Ector County Courthouse and possibly from business near the courthouse, as well as other evidence collected at the scene.

At about 10:45am, the Ector County Sheriff’s office allowed employees and the public doing business at the courthouse to enter through the east entrance.

Officers and investigators also checked the Ector County Annex Building for any possible threat.

This is an ongoing Local, State, and Federal investigation. There were no injuries during the bomb threat investigation. DRB MEDIA COMMUNICATIONS DIGITAL NEWS(O40122)-ODESSA PD INVESTIGATING MAJOR CRASH-IH20 & LOOP 1936

Odessa, Texas/April 1, 2022-Odessa police are investigating a crash that occurred early Friday morning, April 1st, on IH-20 and Loop 1936 near west 2nd street. A witness described the scene as an 18-wheeler and a motorcycle with Debree field covering a wide area, possibly on both sides of the highway. It is unknow if there are any injuries.

DRB MEDIA COMMUNICATIONS DIGITAL NEWS(032822)-OPD & ECISD POLICE INVESTIGATING ALLEGED SHOOTING CLAIM

Odessa, Texas/March 28, 2022-At approximately 4:20 pm, students and school personnel witnessed a male and female, possibly middle school or high school age students run into Ector College Prep leaving a gray car that they were traveling in the school parking lot. An unnamed source connived that the juveniles were in fear of their lives,when an alleged shooter was taking shots at them from another vehicle while traveling towards south Odessa. 

It is unknow what make or model the alleged shooter’s vehicle is at this time. 

Odessa Fire Rescue responded to the scene, Odessa Police, ECISD Police are investigating the incident. 

It is unknow if there are any injuries. More information as it becomes available.

DRB MEDIA COMMUNICATIONS DIGITAL NEWS(032522)GRASS FIRE NEAR WTFB IN SOUTHEAST ODESSA

Odessa, Texas/March 25, 2022-A grass fire occurred in the early afternoon hours in a vacant field in the area of Galloway and South Pagewood, west of the West Texas Food Bank. Several Odessa Fire Rescue units were at the scene containing the fire and monitoring hots spots, that could affect businesses in the area, including a beer and beverage distributing facility near the grass fire. It is unknown at this time what was the cause of the grass fire.

DRB MEDIA COMMUNICATIONS DIGITAL NEWS(032222)-OPD INVESTIGATING FATAL CRASH AT 42ND AND GRANDVIEW

Odessa, Texas/March 22, 2022-On Tuesday, March 22nd at approximately 7:07am, Odessa Police was dispatched to the intersection of E. 42nd and N. Grandview in reference to a hit and run in which a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle. Medical personnel arrived on scene and advised that the pedestrian, a 28-year-old male, was deceased.

Witnesses say the victim was standing in the left turn lane on the 1900 block of E. 42nd St. when a red vehicle was traveling eastbound and struck the victim in the left turn lane and then fled the scene, turning northbound on N. Grandview.
 
The investigation revealed that the vehicle was a Toyota Corolla and the driver was identified as 25-year-old Christy Contreras. An arrest warrant was obtained and she was arrested without incident, and was transported to the Ector County Law Enforcement Center. Contreras is being charged with accident involving death, 2nd degree felony.
 
The victim is not being identified pending notification of next of kin. The investigation continues.
